Mastercam X7 Is Coming
If you are running Mastercam X2, now is the time to update your software! With the
release of Mastercam X7 (coming in Q1, 2013) Mastercam X2 will no longer be sup-
ported and you will not be able to update without purchasing at full price. And, as
operating systems advance, older software runs the risk of not running in these new
environments.
If you don’t act soon, you will lose your valuable investment in Mastercam!
Here is a peek of some Mastercam features that have come out since the release of
X2. They significantly cut programming time and make your shop more efficient:
Dramatically faster solids programming with Feature Based Machining.
Better finish and longer tool life with new High Speed Toolpaths.
New roughing strategies that can increase productivity by 75% or more.
Dynamic milling strategies that can decrease cycle times 40% or more and in-
crease tool life.
Solid Model support for more efficient remachining and verification. You can find out more about the numerous exciting and time-saving tools added to Mastercam since Mastercam X2 at Cimquest-inc.com. Please contact us today for more information.

Tools to Make Programming Easier Mastercam Swiss Expert is completely solids based. This allows for quick toolpath creation from solid faces, edges, loops, and turned profiles. Coupled with the ability to import intermediate models, there is no need to create additional geometry to cut your part. • Mastercam’s complete understanding of your machine allows for easier program-ming, from toolpaths to synchronization to simulation. • Select tools and build 3D tool assemblies in the comprehensive Tool Manager. Tools, tool assemblies, and tool equipment are fully supported in machine simulation. • Save tools and cutting strategies into libraries for future use on similar or families of parts. • View your operations and add synchronization points graphically using the Sync Man-ager. Swiss Expert understands your machining modes, and will prevent you from add-ing sync points that the machine cannot execute.

Mastercam for SolidWorks Tech Tip
Using a filter to window select entities in Mastercam for SolidWorks
When the need to select many chains arises (for example in engraving) there is no
obvious way in Mastercam for SolidWorks to window select all of them. How-
ever, you can uses a filter to remove other entity types so that you can use window
selection to select your chains.
1. Right-click in the blank area
of the menu bar in
Mastercam for SolidWorks
2. Select Selection Filter
3. Select Filter Sketch Segments by
clicking the toolbar button as shown be-
low. Multiple filters can be active at the
same time.
Now when you use window selection,
only Sketch Segments will be selected.
The Chain tab will attempt o make chains
from all the selected entities.
Entity filters will be available in the toolpath selection dialogs in Mastercam for
SolidWorks X7 so the above steps will no longer be necessary
