Program: Chief Impact Officer?16 november 2009, preconference program cio day, 14:00 – 17:00hours

Session a. innovaTing in a gLobaL crisis Speaker : Fons Trompenaars, Trompenaars / Hamden-Turner Host: Reliance Globalcom (former Vanco) & CIO MagazineRiding the Whirlwind of recessionDespite the global recession, or because of it, leaders in every industry and in every part of the world need to move away from retrenchment towards a vision of sustained growth, with innovation as the primary route. Innovating in a Global Crisis brings this all together. In his Master Class Fons Trompenaars show the ways in which the CIO can reconnect people, teams and organisations to create constant renewal of talent and motivation. Drawing on the renowned THT cross-cultural database (over 80.000 records from over 100 countries), Innovating in a Global Crisis is a blueprint for creating a culture of high-octane creativity and innovation.

Session B. ivi : iT maTuriTy vs. business vaLues Speaker : Ralf Dreischmeier, BCG Host: BCG How to reach the Global Gold Standard for IT Management?CIOs have the ambition and face the challenge to develop a mature, battle-proof IT organization. This requires creating more sophisticated IT practices and processes. Ralf Dreischmeier will introduce the IT Capability Maturity Framework (IT-CMF) developed by the IVI Consortium, an unique venture of world leading companies who have agreed to jointly develop the “Gold standard for IT Management”. Using concrete examples and best practices, the Master Class will answer two key questions:“How to achieve a higher maturity level” and “How to prove that investment in IT maturity delivers business value?”

Session C. risK & The eXTended enTerprise Speaker : Peter Tippett, Verizon Business & Chief Scientist ICSA Labs Host: Verizon BusinessWhat’s leading the CIO agenda; Risks or Opportunities? Just control or controlled frameworks with underlying physical business models? Peter Tippett, Vice president of Technology and Innovation Verizon Business is also Chief Scientist of the security product testing and certification organization, ICSA Labs. Tip-pett is best known for his creation of enterprise risk metrics, large risk intelligence and compliance management programs for enterprises. Peter is widely credited with creating the first commercial anti-virus product that later became Norton AntiVirus.

Session d. innovaTion in 2009 and beyond Speaker: Paul Excell, BT Host: BT BeneluxGlobal Innovation Ecosystems: How to Survive and Thrive in the Global Economic Crisis? In an increasingly difficult and complex business environment, innovation is key to delivering ‘sustainable competitive advan-tage’ and ‘business performance’. But what makes the difference? Innovation is no longer an isolated activity, and global execu-tives now see new business models as more critical to their success than new products. This demands a readiness to collaborate, to share ideas and make strategic use of outside knowledge. How can you engage customers in the Innovative process? And how can you share the benefits of such an agile ‘Global Innovation Eco-system’?

Session e. vision & cio sTudy Speaker: Peter Korsten, IBM Institute for Business Value Host: IBMWhat do Successful CIOs around the world have in common? In a fast-moving business environment, how can today’s CIO make the largest impact on behalf of the entire organization? To answer that question, IBM listened to over 2,500 CIOs worldwide. This Master Class highlights the “new voice of the CIO”. It’s no surprise that CIOs must reconcile seemingly opposing mindsets. Peter Korsten, Global Leader IBM Institute for Business Va-lue, is responsible for the development of innovative and compelling long and short term Points of View on a wide variety of lea-ding industries and key functional areas. The IBV is the business think tank of IBM’s global business consulting organization.

Session F. informaTion & advanTage Speaker: Dan Vesset, IDC, Jeroen Dijkxhoorn and Edwin Peters at SAS Netherlands Host: SAS NetherlandsBuilding the case for Business AnalyticsAre you up to speed on what business analytics can do for you? Vesset will explain why organizations in all industries and of all sizes are turning to query and reporting, advanced analytics and data warehousing technology and services (collectively business analytics solutions) to either automate or support decision-making processes. Vessett will cover the latest trends, priority requirements, and ROI of Business Analytics derived from technology-related saving, productivity benefits and business process enhancements. You will learn how the SAS Business Analytics Framework can help you achieve these benefits and build a solid case for your company.

Found: CHIEF IMPACT OFFICER!In previous editions of the CIO Day we facilitated discussions regarding a primary stake in the boardroom, the CIO’s Agility, the Business Alignment and even Leadership and High Performance Information (as culture). In the end the question remains: How about IMPACT?

From this perspective we will focus on the question; “How to create great impact?” Especially today’s business and thus the IT Alignment, requires a high and almost superior vision and execution on topics such as Risks and Cost Management. But even more important should be topics such as Energy Technology, Information Management and Business Process Management & Technology. Fast transitions are required and in conjunction with this urge; How about Talent Management, as it seems that we have a decreasing number of young highly educated (IT)professionals. Highly Agile Tactics should be the bases to make sure that changes are Sustainable. To make sure that the (IT) IMPACT will be continuous!

This years CIO Day will start with an exclusive pre-conference program on the 16th of November (for the top of the IT Community (on invitation only)). The program entails exclusive Master Classes about IT IMPACT with international leading speakers and guests. The afternoon program is followed by an exclusive CIO VIP Diner with the auction CharITy (by leading auction house Christie’s) and informal networking with entertainment in our special created lounge.

During the day on the 17th of November an extensive and inspiring program is facilitated with leading (inter)national speakers, discussion sessions with CIOs, open Expert Sessions and exclusive CIO Roundtable Sessions. The program will finish with the presentation of the CIO of The Year Award 2009 by HRH Prince Bernhard van Oranje.

Be there, take part in the discussion(s), and meet your peers during the ultimate CIO event of the year!

Sessions: CHIEF IMPACT OFFICERmarTinair iT TaKing responsibiLiTy in Times of crisis Martinair has changed its business model drastically since 2007. In order to respond to a changing environment the IT organisation needed to adapt. Martinair outsourced all of its IT activities to Getronics and IBM. During this track Frauke Pieters will paint a picture of the outsourcing process itself and how the process enabled Martinair to respond to today’s challenging world.Speaker: Frauke Pieters, VP Corporate Information Centre, Martinair

asmL iT: “Weapons of mass consTrucTion!”As part of the CE2010 initiative [Integral Cost & Efficiency improvement initiative] and like many other companies, ASML IT is challenged to support all its internal customers busy with their business processes. Okay but how? In a high-tech company like ASML, IT has chosen its “weapons of mass construction” so to deliver its value I.T. chooses its battles and those are more specifically a Business Process Support group doubled with a IT4E group [IT for Engineers]. Speaker: Marc Touitou, Senior Vice-President and CIO, ASML

virTuaLiZaTion - hoW To creaTe your oWn privaTe cLoud?Over the past few years the data centre has been transforming from a business-centered physical location into a highly in-tegrated and virtualized environment, including Unified Computing and Virtual Storage. This allowed CIOs to scale their organizations resources, information and most importantly their business much more effectively. But these benefits have come at the cost of greater complexity and forced CIOs to focus more closely on operational expenses than before. This presentation will address a joint vision for data center architecture as we see it is becoming a consolidated, virtualized and automated environment that lays the foundation for cloud computing within the enterprise and beyond. It will give you answers to crucial questions like: what can virtualization and cloud computing mean for my organization, how to realize business alignment, how to maximize benefits and what are the steps to take and the challenges to expect?

The cLoud’s impacT on securiTy.Former CIO of the White House, Carlos C. Solari, discusses how to approach information security in such a way that the transition to cloud services has a positive impact. Cloud computing and Web 2.0 continue to evolve into the new paradigms for business. So what about information security when we know that security of LAN based perimeters is insufficient when the perimeter to be protected is everywhere - including the cloud? Every day a new incident involving sensitive information shakes our confidence. We need to get to the point that we have achieved a balance between benefits and risks. In truth, this equilibrium has never been achieved. And the trend towards further abstraction of information and information sys-tems continues in ways that make this question of security even more important.Speaker & host: Carlos C. Solari, VP Quality, Security & Reliability, Alcatel-Lucent

appLicaTion sourcing: iTs compLeXiTy To sTay in conTroL and be innovaTive. The complexity of creating an effective sourcing strategy for application services has been highly underestimated the last years. It was just considered as an extension of decisions made in the past on IT infrastructure outsourcing! Application services however have to be analysed in a completely different way in terms of business value, business risks, innovation power etc. New sourcing models have come into existence such as SAAS, co-sourcing, business domain sourcing etc. In this expert session the domain of application sourcing will be introduced by two of EquaTerra’s leaders in this area. Two CIOs will share their personal experiences with the audience.Speakers: Gerard Wijers, Director Sourcing Management, EquaTerra, Popke Graansma, CIO, Enexis and Wim Reedijk, Manager Application Services, TNT PostHost: Kees Stigter, Principal Consultant, EquaTerra Netherlands

changing dynamics of infrasTrucTure sourcing & innovaTive sourcing modeLs.Ashish Gupta, Head of Europe for HCL Infrastructure Services and one of the pioneers of Remote Infrastructure Ma-nagement (RIM), will discuss on how Innovative Sourcing Models and RIM have brought about a paradigm shift in the dynamics of Infrastructure sourcing through some real life case studies. He will also talk about HCL’s emergence as a new age infrastructure services provider, which services the end to end needs of its customers in an outsourcing model which promotes flexibility and alignment to business during the term of the contract. Speaker: Ashish Gupta, Europe Head, HCL Infrastructure ServicesHost: Raj Choudhury, Global Sales Director – Continental Europe

hybrid neTWorKs: fuTure proof ThinKing.Multinational companies need to become more able to respond to market dynamics, increased flexibility and a high level of support within the communications environment is a critical success factor. Mr Garg will discuss how Reliance Globalcom supports multinational companies to innovate within their and new business environments. The Expert session will close with a panel discussion with a number of Reliance Globalcom’s customers to share their experiences with a network based on the Hybrid VNO-concept. securiTy in The cLoud?Joost Metten, European CEO for Terremark, will discuss what measurements should be taken before moving your data into the cloud. He will pinpoint the pro’s and con’s of cloud computing and explains where Enterprise Cloud differs from internal clouds, public clouds and private clouds. He will show some examples of solutions, build on Enterprise Cloud, that have been implemented in a variety of industries like Governments, Healthcare and Professional Services.Speaker: Joost Metten, CEO Europe, TerremarkHost: Jasper Lankhorst, Vice President Sales Europa, Terremark appLicaTion opTimisaTion: “is bandWidTh aLWays The ansWer?”The deployment of new applications can see bandwidth usage grow three- or four-fold, and the impact of this on net-work access can very quickly have a critical business impact. Cloud computing is an extremely cost-effective alternative to maintaining an expensive oversupply of in-house computing power. But is your network optimized for the cloud? Given the current economic climate and deep-set global recession, the challenges we are facing are finding the balance between extraordinary traffic growth and cost-efficient management, and between predictability and flexibility. It involves more than fixing your bandwidth, and offers the potential benefit of reducing operating costs while boosting efficiency. Hosts: Bas Burger, CEO BT Benelux & Paul Excell, Chief Customer Innovation Officer, BT Operate & Design

maXimiZing The business vaLue of iT – a cogniZanT survey.Cognizant Business Consulting conducted a survey amongst its clients during the summer of 2009, focusing on the iden-tification of real quantifiable benefits that corporations derive from IT solutions or services. One potential factor that may affect the business value Impact of IT is the alignment between IT and business processes, organization structure and strategy. How well do corporations manage to orchestrate alignment by proper integration of enterprise architecture, busi-ness architecture, process design, organization design and performance metrics? The Cognizant Roundtable will provide some insightful answers.Speaker & host: Gabriel Schild, Director, Cognizant Business Consulting

driving efficienT enTerprises.‘Efficiency’ has taken over as the mantra in enterprise technology, from the desktop to the data center. IT decision makers are undergoing a change in the way they think about and buy IT; transforming in the way they consider factors other than price. The future of enterprise technology will be driven by a focus on efficiency and building what Dell calls the Efficient Enterprise. During our Round Table we talk about driving productivity, speed, agility and savings.Speaker: Dolph Westerbos, VP Solutions & Services EMEA Large Enterprise DellHost: Steve Schuckenbrock, President Large Enterprise Dell

are you ThinKing WhaT oTher successfuL cios are ThinKing? The current economic climate has further accelerated the importance of information technology as a means to drive im-mediate cost efficiencies across the business, and as a means of being flexible and responsive to business opportunities. But, what does it takes to build a smarter business? IBM interviewed over 2,500 CIOs face-to-face and found that succes-sful CIOs have a lot in common. The roundtable discussion will centre on the outcome of the IBM Global CIO Study 2009, and gives insight into what options are available to support your strategic priorities. Spreaker: Peter Korsten, Global Leader IBM Institute for Business ValueHost: Piet Bil, Vice President IBM Global Technology Services

emerging TechnoLogies. Now, more than ever, emerging technologies have the capacity to quickly disrupt existing, well-established business mo-dels and often, unexpectedly create completely new opportunities for organizations. In almost every business area, new discoveries and rapid adoption of emerging technologies are presenting formidable challenges and exciting advantages for business leaders. Dr. Jonathan Reichental will stimulate an important discussion on the essential role the CIO must play in managing and providing leadership in a time of accelerated technological change. The discussion will provide you with essential ideas that you can take back to your organization. Speaker & host: Dr. Jonathan Reichental, US IT Innovations Director PwC

The case for invesTing in business anaLyTics TechnoLogy. Are you up to speed on what business analytics can do? Vessett and Dijkxhoorn will explain why organizations in all indus-tries and of all sizes are turning to query and reporting, advanced analytics and data warehousing technology and services (collectively business analytics solutions) to either automate or support decision-making processes. Speakers: Dan Vesset, Program Vice President at IDC & Jeroen Dijkxhoorn, Business Manager at SAS NetherlandsHost: Edwin Peters, Manager Business Unit Solutions at SAS Netherlands

maKe ThaT change: remove sofTWare Legacy and improve performance.Legacy software portfolio’s are a real problem for organisations. They block business agility, are very costly, and a serious risk for Business continuity. No much news so far. One might wonder why so many organisations appear to take their legacy for granted, given the serious negative impact. For many years now, IT vendors are selling “solutions” to remove legacy and solve all problems. If these solutions were so powerful, by now the legacy problem should be non- existing. The real problem seems to be lack of insight. Real, fact based insight in the whole portfolio. What are the risks we have, what is the quality we have, how are our systems interfaced with each other? Without this insight, legacy is an amorphous black box (a rather big box usually) Organisations who have this insight (on the deepest technical level), do not have to rely on “Consultants Powerpoint- truth”, but now where they are and therefore can effectively manage change. IT risk will de-crease, agility will improve, cost will decrease. People will be happy again. To good to be true? Let’s discuss on our Round Table and learn from others. We want to learn from you.Speaker: Pim van der Horst, CIO, KAS BANK NVHost: Jan Willem Klerkx, MT Member, SIG

do’s and don’Ts When preparing for The upTurn. The economic downturn has had major impact on many enterprises. Where production declined, cost reduction programs where implemented. IT, seen by many as a cost center, was no different. The downturn gives way to the more crucial decisions in order to be optimally prepared for better days – the economic upturn - that will undoubtedly follow. In IT questions arise around key topics: virtualization, sourcing, business intelligence, collaboration and ways of enabling the business – to do or not to do? Accenture has clear examples of how high-performance businesses outperformed their com-petitors in challenging times like today. This round table gives you the opportunity to explore how these business acted differently– and which technological developments can contribute to your companies’ performance when the tides change and the economic upturn becomes reality.Speaker: Marc Schuuring, Executive Partner, AccentureHost: Ernst-Jan Bergman, Managing Partner, Accenture

“eT, The neXT iT” - 2nd ediTion.Energy continues to be a very hot topic. Due to the great interest for the Round Table on 26 May 2009, this follow-up ses-sion will further elaborate on the topic Energy Technology. Will this be the next IT? The role of the CIO lies at the heart of this discussion. Where one CIO struggles with the problem that the available energy is insufficient to expand the data centre, another may be particularly keen on a ‘cleaner’ and more sustainable IT operation or how IT can be an ‘energy effi-ciency’ enabler for the rest of the business. The most notable aspect in all this is that when it comes to energy consumption, all the various CIO agendas could come together to the same sustainable solutions. Are we ready for the next step, Energy Technology?Speakers: Sjourd Wijdeveld, IT Director EMEA, Watts Industries Europe and Aaron Davis, CMO, Schneider ElectricHost: Wim Hendriksen, Country Manager Benelux, APC

virTuaLiZaTion - deep dive.Deep dive of the special theme session “VIRTUALISATION - How to create your own private cloud?” What can virtualisa-tion and cloud computing mean for your organisation? What are the steps to take and what advantages but also difficulties to expect? A Cisco roundtable with an interactive character. And making smart use of this information is absolutely a competi-tive advantage. Companies collect massive amounts of transaction data from their financials, supply chain management, human resources, and customer relationship management systems. Early on, often the problem was finding the data to feed business intelligence reports and analytics. Today, data overload is the greater challenge. How can the CIO lead the business by using the right information at the right time? Speaker & host: Gerlof du Bois, General Manager, IBM Cognos Netherlands

The cio empoWers The cfo and beyond. In the face of today’s economic crisis and unprecedented credit crunch, cash is back as king. Companies must do every-thing they can to free up working capital. Deloitte developed a visual, highly interactive dashboard, which provides instant insight in the most important Working Capital KPI’s. The dashboard supports powerful “on-the-fly” analyses and navi-gation from top-level overview down to transaction details. It gives instant insight in opportunities and exposure related to clients and suppliers. Today’s CFO has altered management information needs – how does a CIO anticipate this and facilitate sustainable change, enabling business management to think.Speaker: Stefan van Duin, Director, Deloitte Consulting Host: Eelco Jan Boonstra, Regional Director, QlikTech Netherlands BV
