1.People follow the leader first and the leaders vision second - It doesnt matter if the leader shares a powerful vision, if the leader is not someone who people will follow the vision will never be realized. 1.Trust is the force that connects people to the leader and his/her vision - Without trust there is a huge gap between the leader and the vision. Without trust people will stay off the bus. 3.Leadership is not just about what you do but what you can inspire, encourage and empower others to do. 4.A leader brings out the best within others by sharing the best within themselves.

5.Just because youre driving the bus doesnt mean you have the right to run people over - Abraham Lincoln said Most anyone can stand adversity, but to test a mans character give him power. (D&C 121) The more power you are granted the more it is your responsibility to serve, develop and empower others. 6.Rules without Relationship Leads to Rebellion As a leader you can have all the rules you want but if you dont invest in your people and develop a relationship with them they will rebel.

7.Lead with optimism, enthusiasm and positive energy, guard against pessimism and weed out negativity. 8.Great Leaders know they dont have all the answers. Rather they build a team of people who either know the answers or will find them. 9.Leaders inspire and teach their people to focus on solutions, not complaints 10.Great leaders know that success is a process not a destination

Leadership Impact How do we use the experiences to enhance our Leadership Must keep a record of our spiritual experiences Need to share these experiences with others (eg. The Nephites) Such experiences are wasted if we do not note and then act upon the promptings of the Spirit that we receive (eg. Conversion in missionary work)

Not everyone will have the opportunity to see a prophet face-to- face. Fortunately, that isnt necessary. We can all receive the same witness I did on those steps long ago. More important than seeing a prophet is understanding the message he has for us. Applying that message is a sure way to gain a testimony of his holy calling. We should begin by recognizing the reality that just because something is good is not a sufficient reason for doing it. The number of good things we can do far exceeds the time available to accomplish them. Some things are better than good, and these are the things that should command priority attention in our lives. Most of us have more things expected of us than we can possibly do. As breadwinners, as parents, as Church workers and members, we face many choices on what we will do with our time and other resources. Managing Time

Managing Weaknesses What Enoch applied: Enoch recognized his weaknesses Came to the Lord, accepted the task, asked for help Was humble Had faith (he did everything he could) The Result: Enoch was able to accomplish his mission and saved his entire people, because he received Power from God, he could do everything!

Jesus: The Perfect Leader By President Spencer W. Kimball

Jesus: The Perfect Leader Jesus knew who he was and why he was here on this planet. That meant he could lead from strength rather than from uncertainty or weakness Jesus said several times, Come, follow me. His was a program of do what I do, rather than do what I say Jesus was a listening leader. Because he loved others with a perfect love, he listened without being condescending (displaying superior attitude).

Jesus: The Perfect Leader The Saviors leadership was selfless. He put himself and his own needs second and ministered to other beyond the call of duty, tirelessly, lovingly, effectively. So many problems in the world today spring from selfishness, and self-centeredness this is a direct reversal of principles and practices pursued so perfectly by that perfect example of leadership, Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus: The Perfect Leader Jesus also taught us how important it is to use our time wisely When a moment has gone, it is really gone wise time management is really the wise management of ourselves One of the great teachings of the Man of Galilee, the Lord Jesus Christ, was that you and I carry within us immense possibilities. In urging us to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect, Jesus was not teasing us. He was telling us a powerful truth about our possibilities and about our potential.

Jesus: The Perfect Leader Prophet Kimball finished Perhaps the most important thing I can say about Jesus Christ, more important than all else I have said, is that he lives. He really does embody all those virtues and attributes the scriptures tell us of.
