CITY UPDATE DUAL CARRIAGEWAY AT NICHOLSON ROAD SOON TO COMMENCE Mills Park Redevelopment Start date: 2014 Date of completion: July 2017 Budget: Estimated at $30 million The City proposes the construction of a multi- functional community facility including change rooms and public toilets, synthetic and natural sporting surfaces, passive spaces, regional and local sized playgrounds and re-generation of the natural bushland environment. This project is currently in the detailed design phase. Nicholson Road duplication, Canning Vale Start date: July 2013 Date of completion: June 2014 Budget: $3.3 million Project details: The City has commenced construction work for a proposed dual carriageway (1.35 km long) between Ranford Road and Clontarf Terrace to cater for the increased traffic demand in Nicholson Road. Work includes construction of a new two lane carriageway on the east side of the existing road and associated works including street lighting, footpaths, streetscaping and drainage. The proposed dual carriageway will improve road safety by separating north and south bound traffic by a 6 metre wide median and provide wider median openings at intersections. The entire stretch of the road will also be illuminated by new street lighting, significantly improving road safety at night. 3 September 2013 Yale Road/ Murdoch Drive roundabout Start date: June 2013 Expected date of completion: September 2013 Budget: $1 million Project details: The City is in the final stages of constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Yale Road and Murdoch Road in Thornlie under the State Black Spot program. As part of the roundabout works, a short service road has also been constructed near the roundabout reducing traffic conflicts with a number of residential accesses in Yale Road. Extensive power relocation and undergrounding work has also been done to accommodate the new roundabout. All work has significantly contributed to the improvement of road safety, the streetscape and the visual amenity of the area. www.gosnells.wa.gov.au 9397 3000 [email protected] Making the City of Gosnells a great place Kelvin Road median, Maddington Project details: A significant section of the Kelvin Road median area has been upgraded with the planting of species that are less maintenance intensive. Cost: $25,000. Corfield Street planting, Gosnells Project details: A small section of Corfield Road median has been upgraded using grasstrees and compacted gravel. This planting approach achieves principles of water minimisation as well as being aesthetically pleasing and sustainable. Cost: $13,000. Centennial Pioneer Park, Gosnells Yilgarn Way Reserve Development, Gosnells Start date: March 2013 Date of completion: October 2013 Budget: $650,000 Yilgarn Way Reserve is nearing completion with the final stages of the play areas and landscaping being constructed. Extensive planting, mulching and fencing will be completed in the next four weeks. Centennial Pioneer Park, Gosnells Start date: July 2013 Date of completion: October 2013 Budget: $279,000 A new pedestrian footbridge will replace the old existing concrete bridge. The bridge deck component has been installed over the river with demolition of the old bridge and new path connections due to be completed in September. Native planting will also be carried out to finish the project. Albany Highway, Gosnells Start date: March 2013 Date of completion: October 2013 Budget: $650,000 Median landscaping of Albany Highway is expected to be completed in September. Works include an upgrade of the paved border close to carriageways and the inclusion of water-wise plants to achieve the principles of sustainability.
