The District’s Proactive Approach to Mosquito Control
Larval control95%
Adult control5%
• The bulk of our mosquito control focuses on the immature life stages of the mosquito, which are aquatic.
• Costs to kill mosquito larvae = $0.25/application• Costs to kill adult mosquitoes = $100/application
• Every month the District inspects (on average) 15,000 potential breeding sites and treats them as necessary
• To kill mosquito larvae, we primarily use a bacteria that the mosquitoes ingest and then die. The bacteria causes no deleterious effects to other organisms or the environment.
