Abandonment Request: City of San Angelo
• First Public Hearing and consideration of introduction of an Ordinance authorizing abandonment of public right-of-way around City Hall in downtown San Angelo;
• Portions of the right-of-way of: West 1st Street, North Irving
Street, City Hall Plaza, and nearby Alleyways and parking areas.
• 24 Notifications Sent. 0 received in favor or opposition.

OptionsIn considering this application, the Council may:
• approve the proposed abandonment as presented;
• modify the abandonment conditions to those believed to be more appropriate; or
• deny the proposed abandonment.

• City staff recommends approving the proposed abandonment subject to conditions outlined in the presentation.

Conditions
1. Reservation of an easement for installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of utilities, which, said easement shall:
A. extend over the entire length and width of areas C, E, and F, which are otherwise abandoned rights-of-way; and
B. remain open and unobstructed.
Analysis – Basis for Recommendation• Compatible with existing uses;
• Reflects the development goals of the 2009 Comprehensive Plan;
• Unification of the area, campus feel;
• Remedy a dangerous intersection; and
• Better organization of City Property.
