Civil Liberties are rights and freedoms that provide an individual specific rights.• We expect not to be robbed or attacked, or if we are, we expect those who did it to be punished.

• We expect to be able to go to school and than to college.

• We expect to be able to think and speak what we like-as long it doesn't harm other people.

• If we are suspected of doing something against the law, we expect to have an open and free trial.

The Magna Carta

No free man can be sent to prison without a good reason and only after a fair trial.

Any free man must be tried by a court of people who are his equals.

Punishments for different crimes were set out.

Widows and orphans were protected from being seized.

Foreign merchants were protected and allowed to trade.
