Secretary’s Memo -

I just received the 2017 CL89 Master Mason listing from Grand Lodge. I need to verify all information on this 90 page document and submit all changes to the Grand Secretary. You can help me immeasurably by emailing (or US mail) me any chang-es to your addresses, phone num-bers and email addresses. I only need you to notify me if you have any changes since January 2016.

This is not only important for the GL report, but also to help me keep accurate records for the Lodge. Email addresses are very important. If you are receiving the Trestleboard through the postal system and you have an email address, please pro-vide that along with any other changes to your contact infor-mation.

Postal mailings for the Trestleboard are one of our largest recurring costs, including over a hundred dol-lars this year for returned mail due to inaccurate addresses. The “return service requested” costs us full stamp price for a returned letter.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I saw these on display at the George Washington Masonic National Me-morial last month. They are circa 1900. Thought you would get a kick out of it.

Masonic Memes -

The following was sent to me by a brother. I have no idea where he got it or if he wrote it himself. I only know it is very appropriate.

IS YOUR FREEMASONRY IN JARS?

Not often do I find a Masonic lesson in a funny story, but there's one that seems to me to give the opportunity for developing one.

At a gathering of women the conver-sation turned `to a discussion of Ma-sons. Some of the women seemed to be rather well informed on the sub-ject, and discussed it at some length,

but one woman was bored and final-ly remarked, "Well, I don't know much about Masons, but I think their fruit jars are very nice."

If we analyze that, we may find she said a mouthful without intending to point a moral of any kind. Don't many of us Masons have a lot of fruit jars into which we put our Masonry, then seal the jars and set them away in a dark corner? Even when Mason-ic friends visit us, we don't get out some of the jars and treat our friends to the contents. We might at least take a jar along every time we go to a Masonic meeting and pass around what the jar contains.

Freemasonry put away in jars doesn't improve with age, and the contents are likely to be forgotten. Freemasonry improves by dissemina-tion. Brethren, keep your Freema-sonry out of fruit jars; but, if you do put some away now and then, bring it out at the first opportunity and let the Brethren partake with you.
