A note from the Principal
Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle for this fortnight –
Week 10, Term 1 (29/03/2017)
Clairgate Super Fish
Huge congratulations to all our swimmers who swam
at the Regional Carnival in Homebush last fortnight –
Grace Manning, Isabel Manning, Ashley Becroft,
Delynda Pilbin, Billy Higgins, Rory Hayes, Jack Histon,
James Leo and James Fenter. Special congratulations
to Billy Higgins who will now go on to swim at the
State Carnival – well done Billy!
EASTER HAT PARADE
We will hold our Easter Hat Parade next Thursday
after recess. We will start with the children lining up in
the main quad for the raffle draw and then we will
move to the front grass for the parade. Bring a picnic
rug or a folding chair and enjoy the parade with us.
You are welcome to stay for a picnic lunch with your
child afterwards – we hope it will be a fine day!
MUFTI DAY – wear RED
On our last day of school this term – Friday, 7th April,
2017 – we will have a whole school Mufti Day to raise
funds for the Red Cross. Children may wear Red Mufti
clothes on this day for a gold coin donation – no
thongs or bare midriffs please.
ANZAC Commemorations
ANZAC March
On Sunday, April 23rd, there will be an ANZAC March
from Coachman’s Park in St Marys to Victoria Park at
2.30pm, culminating in a service. We will have some
of our school leaders representing Clairgate at this
March - all Clairgate children and families are invited
to march behind our banner and represent our school.
ANZAC Dawn Service
Both the School Captains and I will be representing
Clairgate and laying a wreath at the Dawn Service at
St Marys RSL on ANZAC Day. This service starts at
5:00am.
School ANZAC Commemoration
We will hold an ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony on
Thursday, 27th April at 12.30pm for our students. We
will be remembering and honouring our very own
Lance Corporal Luke Gavin on this occasion.

Clairgate – just great!!
Billy The Kid! Huge congratulations to Billy Higgins. What a
superfish he is turning out to be! Billy will be
representing the Sydney-West Regional
swimming team at the NSW State
Championships at Sydney International Aquatic
Centre, Homebush on 5th/6th April. After
finishing in 3rd place at the recent Regional
Carnival, Billy will be competing in the 9yrs Boys
50m Freestyle event. Billy also set a new school
record at our school swimming carnival. His new
record time for the 9yrs Boys 50m Freestyle is
42.47 seconds. Well done Billy and good luck!
Swimming Carnival Assembly
Our annual Swimming Carnival assembly was
held in the school hall on Tuesday, 28th March.
All ribbons and major trophies were presented
and our newly elected Sport House Team leaders
did a terrific job running the assembly. More
details regarding the major award winners will
be published in the next newsletter.
OzTag Gala Day
Clairgate has entered a boys and a girls team in
the upcoming OzTag Gala Day at Peppertree
Oval on Thursday 6th April. Our students will be
competing in a round robin type competition
against teams from James Erskine, Banks,
Ropes Crossing and St Marys North schools.
All players and transporting parents are to meet
Mr Blanch at the school flag pole at 8:30am on
the day. All players have received a permission
note regarding this event.
Winter Sport
Our Year 3-6 Winter Sport program (Terms 2 & 3)
will involve: PSSA Rugby League, AFL, Boys
Soccer, Girls Soccer and Netball.
Gymnastics and School Sport will also be
available at school for our primary students.
Trials for all Winter PSSA teams will start early
next term.

ICAS 2017 International Competitions
and Assessments for Schools
Once again Clairgate Students will be offering the opportunity for to enter the competitions, which will be held throughout the year. Closing date for payment is Tuesday, 28th March 2017.
Payments received by Tuesday 28th March will secure the 2016 pricing (below). If payment is received after this date 2017 price increases will apply (please see the office for details).

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Each year near Easter the P&C gives a small chocolate egg to each of the students.
If your child has any allergies and should not receive a chocolate egg please complete the
note below and return to the school office by Tuesday 4th
April.
If you wish to provide an alternative (e.g. candy egg) for your child please send it to the
school office with your child’s name and class attach by Tuesday, 4th
April.
The P&C would like to ask each student to donate an Easter egg for the Easter Raffle which
will be drawn after recess on Thursday, 6th
April. Please send your donations into the office
