Processes like SULFATREAT, and PURASPEC, ZnO over Co/Mo catalyst separate only H2S and some sulfur compounds only, leaving CO2. Also these processes impose complete replacement of catalyst without regeneration like amino alcohols. The use of the family of amino alcohols like MonoEthanolAmine to separate CO2 and H2S

There are several amino alcohols which are used for the removal of CO2 and H2S from

natural gas:

MEA MonoEthanolAmine DEA DiEthanolAmine MMEA MonoMethylEthanolAmine DGA DiGlycolAmine DIPA Di-isoPropanolAmine AMP 2 Amino 2 Methyl 1 Propanolamine

In absorption of CO2 and H2S gases MEA and DEA perform best, however in regeneration

MMEA and DGA perform better. Consequently a mixture of the amino alcohols is recommended.
