History of Clapp Park
• 2018
• The five (5) course golf system was identified as no longer being sustainable
• Recommendation was made to close Clapp golf course due to its lack of economic performance
• The Mayor and City Council voted to temporarily keep the golf course open

• 2019
• An 11-member transformation committee was appointed
• An engagement series was designed
• Clapp Transformation Committee will present a recommendation to the Mayor and City Council
• Clapp golf course will be closed

• The community engagement series is designed to:

• Share: April 3 – April 8

• To hear the diverse perspective on amenities, programs and
development ideas for Clapp Park
• To continue writing history as we preserve the legacy of Clapp Park

• 86% of respondents agreed that the Wichita region has to be willing to
change to keep and attract the next generation
• 78% of respondents agreed that the Wichita region should be a place that is
a destination place people want to live
• The attractions index indicated that younger age groups and minority
communities ranked issues around attractions higher, specifically the need for
more affordable and diverse options
