There are lots of exciting things happening this term at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium. We will host performances by the Australian Brass Quintet and the Royal Australian Navy Band as part of our concerts for this term.
Last term we enjoyed taking our Travelling PAN concert to the library so much, that we’ll be visiting the Grafton library again this term as well as a PAN concert at Westlawn Public School.
I look forward to seeing you at a CVCon concert or around the halls of the CVCon this term.

Don’t forget the first of the 2017 Boom BANG Boogie workshops will take place very shortly, on Monday 24 April. The workshop will provide an opportunity for students from Clarence Valley schools to participate in a combined band rehearsal, to make new friends from different schools and to perform in a short concert (2pm) at the end of the session. The workshop will commence at 9:00am and will include a short concert performance at 2:00pm. Full details are on the CVCon website or are available by calling the CVCon office.

The aural component of any exam is just as important as the
practical section and requires practice to ensure that the best result is
achieved. To help students who are doing exams in their preparation
for the aural section of the exam we will be offering an aural
preparation class in the second half of term 2. Please contact the

Australian Brass Quintet
Five of Australia’s finest brass players come together to perform with exceptional artistry. The Australian
Brass Quintet are dedicated to presenting creative and engaging programs including established
masterpieces, innovative new works for the modern brass quintet and collaborations with local and
international artists. The ABQ is a unique Australian
ensemble sought after for commissions, festivals,
recordings, collaborations and residencies. They are
passionate about the future of brass music in Australia
which they foster by championing new works, presenting
education programs and residencies, and mentoring young
professional musicians. From the electrifying rhythms of
Bernstein’s West Side Story to the reflective songs of love
and loss by sixteenth century Spanish composer Juan de
Encina, Street Song is a celebration of songs popular and
little known from around the world and across the ages.
With commentary by the performers this is a unique evening that will have something for everyone.
