New Junior Division Department ! ! ! Department 11: Domesticated Exotic Animals If you signed up for Alpaca/Llama through 4-H Online you are eligible to exhibit Llama’s and/or Alpaca’s in Showmanship at the 2019 Clark County Fair. We are still working out details (tags/ID, proper paperwork to be handed in, etc.). Some fairs do an “Obstacle” class and we are checking into it and we are begging for someone’s knowledge in this area. Otherwise we will just do Showmanship for 2019. If anyone has an extreme interest in this area we are in need of a Superintendent to assist in knowing what is needed to facilitate this department—contact us at 715-743-5121.
New Junior Class Added: Department 7—Junior Poultry Addition Class S: Egg Class (ribbon only)
The fairboard has agreed to add an additional class for EGGS. Exhibitors would bring in 6 eggs in an egg carton and then a bowl will be provided by the fairboard to set the eggs into for display. Eggs must be a uniform collection of 6 eggs free of blemishes. Eggs will be disposed of after judging or when deemed necessary by the superintendents.

Courtney Schoessow moved to approve. Motion seconded by Brittney Lowry and carried. Financial Report:
Joan Buchholz shared the March report with leaders present and stated she will e-mail the April report to all when she has it completed. We have received a $2500 Monsanto Fund gift donated by Ryan Pralle. We have approximately 800 plat books remaining from 2016. They are currently on sale at $15. The Plat Book Committee for 2020 has begun work on a timeline
for a new book. Clubs may be asked to follow up with pending businesses who have advertised in the past, as well as identify one or two new possible advertisers.
Cindy Kolzow reported that the Livestock Committee will be holding a 50/50 raffle during the Kids Rodeo to raise funds for the Fairgrounds Building Project. They are also going to request that each 4-H club and FFA group donate a basket for a raffle during the fair.
Old Business:
The new herdsmanship judging forms were discussed. Every club must have one individual complete a judging form for each day. Important notes regarding record books were shared: 1) The permanent record has been changed to allow points for all projects carried as long as an exhibit is
taken to the fair and a record book project page completed for that project area. 2) Cloverbud books have been expanded to allow for a larger drawing space. 3) New forms have been added for Foods & Cake Revue, Clothing Revue, and Plant & Soil Science—Seed Display. Chris also has printed record book forms available in binders for members take as needed.
A resource of sample SMART goals and the charter form were given to leaders. Loyal Lads & Lassies were recognized for starting the challenge to donate dairy products to local food pantries. Neillsville Lights donated 208 gallons of milk.
Happy Valley and Lucky Clovers each donated 10 gallons. Congratulations to the following 2019 scholarship winners: Bryana Meyers, Katerina Kolzow, Sydney Schultz, and Jennifer Wendler New Business:
4-H Volleyball Tournament was a success. Target date for next year is March 28-29, 2020. The suggestion has been made to move the start time for Saturday up to 9:00 a.m.
The Foods & Cake Decorating Revue is scheduled for May 18. The Clothing Revue is scheduled for June 19. Leaders were reminded to encourage their members to participate in summer camp. The Leaders Federation Board is exploring the possibility of a Dodgeball Tournament and Paint Ball outing as future fall family events. Committee Reports:
Beef—Fitting and Showing meeting planned for July 14 at Attoe farm. Dairy—Members interested in showing at State Fair, as well as members interested in participating in dairy judging at Area Animal Science Days must contact the
Extension Office by May 1. The Fair Board is considering assessing a “no show fee” in the dairy barn for cows ($30) and yearlings ($15) that are entered to be shown, but not brought to the fair. Leaders/members who have an opinion regarding this decision are encouraged to attend the Fair Board meeting on April 15, 7:30 p.m., at the ADS in Greenwood.
Dogs—Neillsville obedience classes will begin April 24. Katerina Kolzow is willing to host classes in the northern end of the county if there are consistent participants.
Horses—Horse Camp dates are June 13-15. Livestock—A letter regarding processing of non-sale animals should be coming in May. Exhibitors must participate in showmanship in order to sell animals. The
Livestock committee is raising commission to 8% (this increase of 2% will be held by the Livestock Committee to be used for building maintenance).
