My classroom will be a safe place for students, instructors, and guests. Mutual respect is the underlying

foundation of the classroom.

Classroom Expectations

Treat everyone with respect.

Come prepared for class.

We build on the ideas of one another and ask for points of clarification when necessary.

Hate speech is never tolerated.

Procedures: Instructions for students on how to do what I want them to. The

procedures will answer:Come to class on time.

Make up missed work after absences.

I am available after regular school hours Monday through Thursday.

I’ll turn off my phone. Please do the same.

Be responsible and look to your classmates to help with missed work. They will do the same for you.

ConsequencesMay be positive or negative, but all consequences should:

be clear and specific

be directly related to rules and procedures

be hierarchical/have a range of intensity

be natural and appropriate in the school environment.

EXAMPLE: Free time to quietly use technology in the classroom. Not: Going to a movie with the teacher on Saturday.

Action PlanI will review all the previous items to the students, after we have collectively created a social contract.

A hard copy of the social contract will go home with students as well as a soft copy via email for the parents, and I will CC my administrators.

If necessary the plan will be reviewed.
