Adoration of

The Blessed Sacrament

Dear Parishioners in the Lord:

Fear not, I am the "rst and the last, and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive for evermore" (Rv 1: 17-18).

We heard these comforting words in the Second Reading taken from the Book of Revelation. !ey invite us to turn our gaze to Christ, to experience his reassuring presence. To each person, whatever his condition, even

if it were the most complicated and dramatic, the Risen One repeats: "Fear not!"; I died on the Cross but now "I am alive for evermore"; "I am the "rst and the last, and the living one".

"!e "rst", that is, the source of every being and the "rst-fruits of the new creation; "the last", the de"nitive end of history; "the living one", the inexhaustible source of life that triumphed over death for ever. In the Messiah, cruci"ed and risen, we recognize the features of the Lamb sacri"ced on Golgotha, who implores forgiveness for his torturers and opens the gates of heaven to repentant sinners; we glimpse the face of the immortal King who now has "the keys of Death and Hades" (Rv 1: 18).

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endures for ever!" (Ps 117: 1).

Let us make our own the Psalmist's exclamation which we sang in the Responsorial Psalm: the Lord's mercy endures for ever! In order to understand thoroughly the truth of these words, let us be led by the liturgy to the heart of the event of salvation, which unites Christ's Death and Resurrection with our lives and with the world's history. !is miracle of mercy has radically changed humanity's destiny. It is a miracle in which is unfolded the fullness of the love of the Father who, for our redemption, does not even draw back before the sacri"ce of his Only-begotten Son.

In the humiliated and su+ering Christ, believers and non-believers can admire a surprising solidarity, which binds him to our human condition beyond all imaginable measure. !e Cross, even a9er the Resurrection of the Son of God, "speaks and never ceases to speak of God the Father, who is absolutely faithful to his eternal love for man.... Believing in this love means believing in mercy (Dives in misericordia, n. 7).

"Jesus, I trust in you". !is prayer, dear to so many of the devout, clearly expresses the attitude with which we too would like to abandon ourselves trustfully in your hands, O Lord, our only Saviour.

You are burning with the desire to be loved and those in tune with the sentiments of your heart learn how to build the new civilization of love. A simple act of abandonment is enough to overcome the barriers of darkness and sor-row, of doubt and desperation. !e rays of your divine mercy restore hope, in a special way, to those who feel over-whelmed by the burden of sin.

Mary, Mother of Mercy, help us always to have this trust in your Son, our Redeemer. Help us too, St Faustina, whom we remember today with special a+ection. Fixing our weak gaze on the divine Saviour's face, we would like to repeat with you: "Jesus, I trust in you". Now and for ever. Amen. HOMILY OF JOHN PAUL II Sunday, 22 April 2001.

With the assurance of my prayers,

Fr Frank

MASS INTENTIONS

Hoy y siempre. Amén. HOMILÍA DEL SANTO PADRE JUAN PABLO II Domingo 22 de abril de 2001.

Con la seguridad de mis oraciones,

P. Frank

Caros paroquianos no Senhor

Não temas! Eu sou o Primeiro e o Último.

"Louvai o Senhor porque Ele é bom, porque é eterno o Seu amor" (Sl 117, 1).

Hoje e sempre. Amen.

cups, napkins to be used at our Celebrations and for all other Parish Events.

We are keeping up with technology! Our parish provides Online Giving as an electronic tool for contributions so you can give via the Internet.

Online Giving helps you maintain your giving even if you cannot be here at Mass. "is also helps the parish stream-line our cash $ow, especially during bad weather or vacation times. Go to our parish website at www.scbct.org to get started today.

ENCOURAGE APOSTOLATES DIOCESE OF BRIDGEPORT

"e ENCOURAGE apostolate provides pastoral care and support for parents, family and friends of people who experience same-sex attractions or confusion regarding sexual identity. Members sup-port one another as they strive to keep the Faith and to maintain strong, healthy relationships in their families. Con%dential meet-ings are held monthly with a priest chaplain. For more information please call (203)803.1564, or email the coordinators at [email protected]

AS A REMINDER: Please, lock your car at all times.

Do not leave any belongings in sight inside of your vehicle.

Please respect the DO NOT PARK Sections, particularly in front of the garages. We Priests, need to be in and out especially in the case of an emergency.

Please respect the bathrooms. "ey are for the use of all. We would appreciate your help in maintaining their clean-liness!

Chè Pawasyen nan Seyè a,

Amen. HOMÉLIE DE JEAN PAUL II Dimanche 22 avril 2001.
