How?
• A strategy has been proposed for the Conceptual Design Report. Now we need to validate it experimentally:
Validation of sensors and actuators on dedicated test benches
Validation and improvement of strategy on dedicated mock-ups
Development of new test area over 500m in TZ32.
Test benches

Schedule
Dependent from others concerning the two beam test setup, which has a direct impact:
Development of sensors (absolute sensors) Development of cam movers and mini cam movers Rad hard and magnetic tests for sensors and movers Development and improvement of fiducialisation means Alignment measurements on test setups
2 PhD thesis under progress:
Deflectometer Development of Lambda project
Collaboration with NIKHEF
Inter-comparison on long distances with cWPS in TT1 Inter-comparison on short distances on the two beam test setup

Main problem
Hélène MAINAUD DURAND| SU pendant LS1 day| 07.11.2012| INDICO 213914| page 9
Conclusion
• A lot of studies concerning CLIC are under progress
• With a significant number of urgent tasks
• Main problem: electronic workshop and calibration lab non available for CLIC studies during LS1 (and in a smaller proportion the mechanical workshop) for:
Training
Expertise
Prototypes
Calibration of sensors, temperature probes,...
Installation of alignment systems, acquisition systems, cables,...
Software
• More stable R&D team needed, not to lose expertise each time a fellow or project associate leaves. CLIC project is only a pretext, all the developments performed will be applied to ease the aligmnent of future machines.
