SENIOR SINGERS NEEDEDCLIFTON PARK – The Shenendehowa Adult Community Center’s Senior Chorus is in need of all voices: soprano, alto, bass, and tenor. SARATOGA COUNTY – Seek-ing volunteers willing to spend a morning or after-noon transporting senior citizens for medical appoint-ments. Volunteers will utilize Saratoga County transporta-tion vehicle for transport. Lo-cations of transport may be outside of Saratoga County. Drivers may pick up 1-3 se-niors for appointments and drive to destination. Volun-teers can help once per week or every other week or as a substitute driver. Flexible scheduling for all volunteers.
Terms: Volunteer must be at least 55 years of age. Other in-formation requested of volunteers: Valid driver’s license with a good driving history. If interested, please contact Mark at 518-884-4110.

“To make an omelet, you have to break some eggs.” This is the expression 42-year-old Nassau native Rich Zach uses toreassure his customers on construction projects requiring considerable tearing apart as a step in the process. Zach, who has owned his own business, Rich Construction, for 12 years, learned how to do repairs when he was very young.“I worked with my grandmother, who had rental apartments, and learned how to do repairs,” he said. He began to work forhimself after tiring of being laid off and since friends asked him to do work for them. Although he does everything from the ground up, “foundations to roofs,” his favorite jobs are custom trim and tile. “It is moredetailed and not everyone can do it,” he said. 24-year-old Josh Hilton is his “right hand man,” who has been working with him “since he was a little tyke.” Although Hiltonwent to school for carpentry, he said he has learned far more from Zach than anything in school. Zach has owned a home in Nassau for 8 years and done numerous projects there. “I am like a shoemaker with bad shoes,”he said. He removed all the vinyl siding and restored it to the way it looked in the 1920’s, “so you can see the cedar.” His currentproject is finishing the bathroom with glow-in-the-dark tile. “I’d like to thank my customers,” he said, “for keeping me gainfully employed and for helping me raise my kids [16-year-oldtwins Joseph and Kaianna and 15-year-old Katelyn] over the years and for keeping me as their sole contractor.” Zach’s motto is “There is no job too small for me to help my customers with.” Written by Ron Jacob
