Simon Singh is a science writer and broadcaster based in London. His books include Fermat’s Enigma, the first book about mathematics to become a No. 1 best seller in the U.K. He is also the author of The Code Book, Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe, Trick or Treatment? and The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets. His BBC documentary about Fermat’s Last Theorem won a BAFTA award and an Emmy nomination. In 2003, for services to science education, Queen Elizabeth awarded him an MBE
(member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), which means that he has to go to bed wearing a suit of armor. (The bit about the armor is not actually true.)
