This section describes the basic requirements of a CloudLens deployment and outlines optional scenarios to address needs of your enterprise. You can install CloudLens sensors in diverse geographical locations. Even in small networks, planning can ensure that all goes smoothly when you are ready to bring the workloads online. There are many factors you must consider before you deploy CloudLens. The following items are just some of these factors. You need to estimate growth requirements when you consider these factors.

• The size of your enterprise (that is, the number of instances, the number of locations and people that will use CloudLens.

• The volume of packets and the amount of data you need to transfer for visibility.

• The prevention of downtime (that is, how to avoid a single point of failure).

BASIC DEPLOYMENT PROCESS

Before you can deploy CloudLens you need to:

• Consider the requirements of your enterprise and understand the deployment process.

• Have a high-level picture of the scope of CloudLens deployment.

When you are ready to begin deployment:

• Make sure that you have a purchased CloudLens solution at https://store.ixiacom.com

• Use Chrome or Firefox for your browser (Internet Explorer is not supported)

• CloudLens sensors can be deployed in the following operating system

o Linux OS: Amazon AMI, CentOS 7, Ubuntu, RHEL

▪ All Linux AMI are tested on x86_64 architect

▪ Host Linux kernel must be version 3.1 or higher

o Windows OS

▪ All 64-bit Windows OS

PREPARE AWS ENVIRONMENT

In this sample set up we will be creating two sample Windows 2012 R2 instance and two sample Ubuntu 16.04 Linux instances.

Step 1. Log into the AWS Portal. Click “Launch Instance” within the EC2 service.

Step 2. Choose Windows 2012 R2 Server. Click “Select”

Step 1. Download Ixia’s CloudLens agent from the link provided

Step 2. Install CloudLens agent – Agree to lice terms and conditions

Step 3. Installation wizard goes through the CloudLens agent installation and all dependent package installations.
