A message from the Robotics Club staff advisor On behalf the Robotics Society, I take great pleasure in congratulating the Graduating Class of 2015 for reaching this stage on life's ladder of success. We hope that you will not see this graduation as the end of the road, but as a new beginning. Now is the time to equip yourselves and honour the skills with which you will launch those exciting careers. Our hope for you amidst these harsh economic times is that you will not fear the future, but will engender the resolve to challenge and conquer that which you may face. One area you may challenge is that of Robotics, an area that is relatively new but is full of possibilities and excitement. A message from the Robotics Club staff advisorOn behalf the Robotics Society, I take great pleasure in congratulating the Graduating Class of 2015 for reaching this stage on life's ladder of success. It is an industrial sector which is slowly replacing manual dexterity with more precision and efficiency.May the Lord bless and keep you focused. Lincoln R. Reid A message from the Robotics Society PresidentIt is a pleasure for me and by extension, the members of the Cornwall College Robotics Society, to congratulate the Graduating Class of 2015 for maintaining focus, equanimity and determination to reach this stage of success. The road was not easy but with the strength of God you all have made it. I hope you are cognizant of the fact that this is just the beginning of your journey. As such, I encourage you to never give up because disappointments and failures is the condiment that gives success its flavour and as once said by Martin Luther King Jr., "only in darkness can you see the stars".May God bless you and give you the strength to achieve your future goals.Benjamin H. The Club's ReportThe Cornwall College Robotics Society was formed in an effort to develop the minds of our critical thinkers, who are mathematically motivated, electrical and mechanically dexterous and computer savvy. It is hoped that they will use these attributes to face and conquer the challenges of robotics. The Cornwall College Robotics Society was established on October 28, 2014. Robotics is the branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. Our mission is to foster growth and development in the aforementioned sector by imparting the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge needed for future endeavours in robotics. The society consists of an eight-member Executive Board that works diligently to ensure the goals of the society are achieved. The members include: Benjamin Robinson (President); Rojai Marson (Vice President); Tahir Thompson (Secretary/Manager); Dean Romans (Leading Technician for Mathematical Operations); Clayton Mitchell (Leading Assembler); Kaz Reid (Assistant Leading Assembler); Tajay Platt (Director of Operations) and Alex Rowe (Information and Resource Manager).During the period of October to November 2014 we constructed our first robot which was built on an Ardiuno mobile platform. The main function of this robot is to act as an obstacle avoider by using an ultrasonic sensor and C++ programming language to perform mathematical operations on its own to calculate the distance of the obstacle (object). Also, during the months of October to December 2014, a sensitization campaign was carried out at the school to gain and introduce new members to the society through various activities. The Society also embarked upon a sponsorship and mentorship drive aimed at organizations such as the University of Technology, Cornwall College Alumni and Halls of Learning. Our second project, set to commence in July 2015, will include the construction of a new robot to participate in local, regional and international robotics competitions. As you can see the Robotics Society foresees numerous implementations and is motivated by our motto "A vision Without Execution Is An Illusion". Therefore we will achieve all that was said.Tae Kwon Do Report

Tourism Action ClubWith application and innovation, and working positively together in tourism, we will build a better JAMAICA.

OUR CHALLENGES It was with our inspiring motto in our hearts and minds that we boldly embarked upon another school year. We commenced the year with a falloff in the number of active members. Undaunted by this, we amplified our sensitization drive by volunteering to conduct devotion in the first school term. We also sought to boost our public relations initiative. As a result, within weeks, our list of eager TAC members grew dramatically!

Our intention to undertake beautification projects on the school grounds were not realized as we were not able to access the funding in time to coincide with our schedule. Notwithstanding, we intend to embark upon another project of this nature before the conclusion of the school term.

OUR TRIUMPHSWe were, once again, given the privilege and honour of hosting the Tourism Action Club Western Regional Induction Ceremony in February of this year. This was indeed the highlight of our year. In true Cornwall College spirit, we warmly and attentively hosted our guests from: Mount Alvernia High, Anchovy High, Montego Bay High, Western Hospitality Institute as well as specially invited guest speaker Mr. Mark Pike, Programmes Manager, Business Processes and Administration at Sandals Resorts International and Shauna Housen of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB). We extend sSpecial thanks to our President Christopher Grant, our entire executive body and the school band for making the ceremony unforgettable.

Words cannot express the sense of pride we feel, knowing that, one of our very own club members, Matthew Harvey, won the prize for First Place in the Tourism Product and Development Corporation (TPDCo) National Essay Competition. This was another proud moment for our club as we are even more emboldened by our tagline: Small Jamaicans making a big difference!Business Club 2014-2015 Report

The Year 2014-2015 was a huge success for the business club under the guidance of staff advisor Miss Craig and presidency of Tyrique Hamil. The academic year started September 6, 2014 on a high note with its annual church service with the outgoing president proudly representing the Club. The business club, coming off its success from the prior year decided to revamp its command structure and decided to commence the writing of its by-laws, the first club in Cornwall Colleges history to have a formal Governance structure. Later on in the academic year the club highlighted two big projects it deemed significant; the current garbage disposal issue and an improvement project for which the club is proud to say it has secured funding, which is marked for commencement at the starting of the Easter Term 2015.

Later on in the year The Montego Bay Cooperative Credit Union launched its Skills for Life School Competition. Cornwall Colleges Business club summited a business plan and without hesitation imbursement was granted for a sum of $25,000; with the school making the most on that initial investment being the winner. The Business Club Launched a Small Company called El Cinco under the leadership of CEO Winston Jarrett the company did business from the trading period November 16 to March 16 selling: pizzas, cupcakes, bag juices and sweet treats. The company records average weekly profits of $1000-$2000 and has a stock turnover of every two days. The club currently has 80 members on its roster 12 up from last years count of 68 members. The Club is eternally thankful to all members and teachers who continue to aid in the clubs development. The business club president extends his hearty congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2015.

The Report for Spanish Club 2014-2015

The Spanish Club is one that is in its rebuilding stage after being dormant for years. This however, has not limited our efforts to achieve our aim, which is to enhance the knowledge of every student on the speaking, culture and practices of the language. In this effort, the Spanish Club has embarked on numerous projects, first of which was themed Los Graficos. With Los Graficos charts were created that provided vocabulary on certain topics, such as, the field of medicine, foods, what to say to a tourist, family members and more. Also the Spanish Club has, this year launched its facebook page titled, Cornwall College Espanol Club, where posts on upcoming events and biweekly announcements are made. Finally, the Spanish Club is hoping that with the support from the institution they will be able to take part in the Spanish Foundations Spanish Festival this year.

Cornwall College Chess Club Report

For the 2014-2015 school year, the Cornwall College Chess Club began on an upbeat note, receiving brand new equipment from the Old Boys Association, and increasing the numbers of members by around 200% (over 20 new members). The club participated in the National Schools Chess Championships (November-February.) The team was comprisied of Shashank Sablani, Rashid Davis, Quardin Lyttle and Richardo Barnaby. The team played fairly well, passing through the first and second round only to be knocked out at the Round of 16 against St. Jago High School (who eventually won the entire tournament). The trips to each of our matches have been enjoyable for most members.

In the second semester, the club attended the first official meeting for the Mount Alvernia Chess Club, at Mount Alvernia High School. Providing a little coaching and tips for the new members of the Al-V Chess Club. The club continued to have regular meetings, and began the process of finding mentors outside of Cornwall College to help coach and enhance its members playing skill. A joint effort with the Montego Bay Chess Club is the next move for the club. The 2014-2015 Plan of Action was 70% completed, with two major plans being unable to be carried out; however, this school year is still considered to be a huge success as the club has been relatively dormant for the past few years.

The club would also like to give special thanks to the Parent Teachers Association who sponsored the club in order to participate in the tournament. As well as give thanks and bid farewell to its graduating members- Shashank Sablani, Tedale Simpson, Rashid Davis, Matthew Reid, William Leong and Horace Spence II.

Presidents Farewell: Thank you for your participation and support of the club. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, and hope you continue to play chess as the years go by. With this I say to you- Check, you have gone through several years Cornwall College, and Mate- Your time has finished.

The Spelling Club Report

Founded in October 2013, the Spelling Club caters to students who are passionate about spelling, who like to spell and those who want to improve their spelling. The club serves as a beacon of hope to inspire students to be the best they can be, by enhancing their vocabulary, building their confidence and helping them to be strong, intelligent young men who can function in the ever-changing world.

Since the inception of the club with approximately 10 members, the club continues to grow and currently, we have approximately 25 members. This year our club has embarked on some tasks and projects and though young, we continue to be successful. During this academic year, Uchenna Njoku entered the Spelling Bee competition and did fairly well by placing fourth in the Parish Finals. We continue to be resilient as we believe that next year, we WILL be the National Spelling Champions.

With the help of our stalwarts, Asst. Staff Advisor, Mrs. S. Reid-Wood; President, Romey Donaldson; Vice-President, Oran Bingham; Secretary Howard Peterkin; Treasurer; Noel Grey and P.R.O, Darien Streete, we are committed to make our presence known and felt in the school community. The Spelling Cub is aware that many individuals do not view spelling in a good light but we do know that one mistake can change your life. This is clearly evident when a husband sent this to his wife, Im having a wonderful time, wish you were her. The Spelling Club wants everyone to always remember that when speaking, spelling means absolutely nothing, but when writing, SPELLING makes all the difference in the world.

Interact Club Of Cornwall College

Interact is Rotary Internationals Service Club for people ages 12 to 18. The Interact Club has been revived since 2009 and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Montego Bay East, though very closely associated with The Rotary Club of Montego Bay, Montego Bay Sunrise and also the Rotaract Club of Montego Bay. The club is self-governing and throughout the year, President Romey Donaldson and his hard working executive, club advisor and dedicated members, have seen the club grow in the most positive ways. The club has a total of 45 members to date and maintains its growth each year. This has been made possible through the various activities which were devised to strengthen the membership and keep the students active and interested. Each year we join Rotary in several activities, such as their annual Halloween costume party Fright Night, Montego Bay Autism Awareness March, beach cleanups and bikeathons among many others. In February of each year some of the clubs most valued members are selected to participate in a most anticipated event on the Interact calendar. This event is in the form of a seminar which extends over three days called Rotary Youth Leadership Awards(RYLA), previously held right here in Jamaica. There they learn of morals, ethics and meet new people from all over the Caribbean; with whom they share in experiences and cultures through the various activities that are planned. We also try to have as many inter-clubbing exercises as possible with different Interact clubs in order to not only socialize but form lasting relationships.

Each year we strive to complete at least two community service projects, one of which enhances international understanding and goodwill. We therefore, undertake cleanups activities, and also donate cash and services towards worthy causes. Correspondingly, we have assisted in maintaining the schools pond. Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon and is one of the most significant and fastest growing programmes of Rotary Service, with more than 13,000 clubs in 138 countries. It is therefore safe to say that our club has lived up to the expectations and guidelines of Rotary International and our school.

Romey Donaldson (President)Miss Almarie Reid (Staff Advisor)

ISCF Club ReportThe Inter School Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship (IS/IVCF) was first introduced to the Caribbean in 1948, when a staff worker from Canada, Miss Cathy Nicoll, visited Jamaica and helped in starting Inter School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) groups in six schools, and also advised undergraduates of the University campus. After a few years of consolidation of the Movement in Jamaica, it was introduced to the rest of the Caribbean.

The Cornwall College Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) group operates like a school club, with most of its activities held after school. The club consists 13 members.

The aim of the CC ISCF club is to conduct activities at school that allows students to come to a better understanding of who God is. Our motto is "To know Christ and to make Him known". The club does NOT operate like a church gathering, but rather caters to the needs of young people, deals with issues affecting youth and engages students in activities that are wholesome, fun and informative on Christian principles. ISCF is interdenominational - no one Christian denomination takes preeminence over the club's proceedings. The club is led by students who work cohesively to carry out the will of the Creator and is managed by a Staff Advisor who serve as a guide to facilitate the running of the club.
