Installation

DG Dr. Jayant was on the dot at the centre to installPraful as president for the year 2010-011.

Every board member had put on jacket - a little deviationfrom normal informal attire, this is how Praful wanted, a goodstart to show solidarity, basic requirement to render betterservice.

Out going President Mahendra gave brief history of allprojects done during the year, it was very nice visualpresentation.

First IYE Student for Whom Sky is Not The Limit

PP Bharat Patel talked about Mahendra, it he whohad introduced Mahendra to Rotary, he said ‘ this small ,thin,unassuming person steered the club to a greater height. Whenhe stood up to aceept I was skeptical, but he proved mewrong.’

PP Kiran Patel dwelled in to the past, the Sundaymorning when a special meeting was called, as no one wasready to lead the club in 009 - 2010., and then presidentParesh Dixit was much worried.

First PP Arvind Patel voiced out his thoughts,regarding members shirking from their responcibilities. LaterPP Kiran spoke with a sad notee, he was so upset that atone point he said that we should close down the club andreturn the charter,

then,One simple, totally new to Rotary working stood up

and said ‘ I shall’.He was given standing ovation for his gesture. To day

when we look back he proved him self right and we really hada wonderful year.

PP Kiran presented him with a befitting memento,he presented a memento to Sandip Porecha with these words,’ whenDipan as secretory started sneding regular emails toall members about club programmes and member’s birthdays,I thoughtthere can be no better person who can follow his footsteps, but Sandip took up the trend and surpassed Dipan,

Point to ponderThe other day one of our member phoned me about

his phone Nos. in our new ‘ Membership contact details’sbooklet’, he said rather complained that out of three two areold ones.

I retorted back. I couldn’t resist my self. Updating aroster is a mammoth job.

Imagine, one person phoning all members, and itwould be luck to get the person on the first try, even if youget on first try, chances are that he may not have his bloodgroup handy, his spouse’s hobbies at his tip of the toung.So phone him again, second time, may be third time.

Phoning every one two or three time just to getdetails, which should have been given the first time rosterwas being prepared, request was made through bulletin, atthe meeting and in person, via email, SMS.

First roster with photographs was done in the year1975 - 75. In 1985 a concerned effort was done but it did notsee the light of the day. Project was dropped.

Rtn. Paresh was keen and very aptly Rtn. Manojtook up the challenge and first full coloured roster came outin 2008 - 09.

Hats off to Manoj.Yet to put things straight32% of members have not give their year of birth.5% failed to give their blood group.4% did not know their spouses blood group.9.4% are ignorant about their spouses hobbies, and4% are negligent to report about their own hobbies.Surprising, isn’t it!AND instead to appreciate you get brickbat.Rtn. Manoj has been doing it religiously, how many

of us said thanks to him? Leave aside saying better words.Friends, next time do not wait for Manoj to phone

On 16th July we had a very special programme, SSCtoppers from our area were honoured. Some of the studentsgave their impressions some of them said about theirstudies, help from parents, teachers and their method ofreading.

We also had volunteers from Teach IndiaFoundation, These people give free tuitions to poor studentsat their free time and help them build career totally free ofcost. They have many branches. One of them briefly outlinedtheir activities and method of working.

DGN Rtn. Bal Inamdar was felicitated by group of 10clubs 23rd July at our centre. PDG Dr. Anupam Desaipresented him with a turban, shawl and a citation. Rotaryclubs of Bombay North-West, Mumbai Andheri, Borivali,Mumbai Borivali West, Mumbai Dahisar, Mumbai GoregaonWest, Bombay Kandivali, Mumbai Kandivali West,Lokhandwala Kandivali, Mira Road & Mumbai West Coastjoined in this event.

Father of Rtn. Nilesh Dalal expired last fortnight, mayhis soul rest in eternal peace.

Father of Rtn. Jayesh Radia underwent heart bypasssurgery last week, we wish him speedy recovery.
