Yipee! Whatever the weather outside, we know that spring is on the horizon. Tuesday, March 20th, marks the spring equinox for this year. The arrival of spring brings a lot of excitement. It’s a time of hope and renewal. It’s a time of new energy and growth. The trees begin to bud and flowers start to sprout out of the ground. Sometimes the little crocuses are so keen to make their appearance that they poke through the snow before the last of it disappears. The warmth and the light also do magic on us. The increased daylight helps elevate serotonin, our happiness hormone, and the warmer temperature provides opportunities to shed the winter layers and get active outdoors, which releases many feel-good endorphins. Come spring, we also tend to get out and socialize more. All these factors help boost our outlook and morale. Subsequently, the United Nations General Assembly has suggested that the first day of spring should become the International Happiness Day. If winter was stressful for you, be thankful for spring. Be thankful that you made through the dark and rough days and be thankful for the promise and the opportunities that spring brings. Spring is a great time to take stock of your life and find balance or begin anew. Of course, if you are content with your life and how things are going and how you feel, then continue doing what you are doing. If, on the other hand, you lack fulfillment and aren’t satisfied, then it’s time to take action. Remind yourself that if you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got.
What are your dreams and desires? What is it that you
want or hope for in life? As spring is a time of new
beginnings, why not take advantage of it and resolve
to do something you’ve always wanted to do? Explore
opportunities that move you toward your dreams and
put a ‘spring in your step’.
Spring is a great time to clean and de-clutter your
home and your mind. Allow yourself to let go of things
and thoughts that are weighing you down and make
the decisions that you’ve been putting off. If you are
looking to start something brand new, how about
trying archery or exploring your creativity in arts?
Clubhouse has many opportunities for you, including a
chance to make a little extra money from all the
cleaning contracts and store positions that are posted
right now.
Whatever it is you choose to do, celebrate spring and
the renewed sense of life that it brings.

By the time you read this, the transition from winter to spring (at least in the store) will have occurred. Thank
you Thank you Thank you to the volunteers and staff
… especially for their dedication in helping with both the major spring cleaning of the store and also setting up the spring displays. You are our unsung heros!! We could not make this transition without you.
The introduction of the interac as a method of payment has been a success. We ask that you help keep our administration costs down and only use the interac cards for purchases of $5.00 or more.

March Fun Facts
Birthstone: Aquamarine Flower: Daffodil
Zodiac signs: Pisces and Aries
The Anglo-Saxons called the month Hlyd monath
which means Stormy month, or Hraed monath which
means rugged month.
March was the beginning of our calendar year. We
changed to the 'New Style' or 'Gregorian calendar in
1752, and it is only since then when the year began
on 1st January.
"As it rains in March so it rains in June."
"March winds and April showers bring forth May
flowers."
"When March comes in like a lion it goes out like a
lamb."
"Daffodils, that come before the swallow dares, and
take the winds of March with beauty."
- William Shakespeare
"A dry March and a wet May - fill barns and bays
with corn and hay."
Art Corner
Great turn out at the 'Courtyard Gallery' opening in
Enderby on Feb, 10th. Participants from the clubhouse art
group attended and met with other artists at the gallery.
Seven artists from CMHA are part of the show. If you are
in Enderby check out this beautiful collective, artwork
will be on display until March 10th.
Also if you haven't seen already, the Clubhouse is
featuring artist Nathan Glasser, his work will remain on
display for the month of March.
Stephanie continues to come out and inspire us with her
music on Thursday afternoons. She just recently wrote
and performed for us her new song 'Rosie Remembered'.
A shout out to Karen for the flower petals tossed in
appreciation of her shared songs and music.
Clubhouse Word Search
Luge at Snow Day On "Snow Day", February 20th, some intrepid members of the Clubhouse decided to hold a modified 'luge' competition, which featured black garbage bags--some strengthened with cardboard--as sleds. The results were dramatic! The amazing talent of the competitors was evident as one after another sped down the hill. Speed and style vied with consistency and perseverance to produce a dazzling array of performances by Sanne, Lonnie, Lynn, Stewart and in his first ever attempt, Brian.
While not yet
professional,
each of the
participants
showed real
promise, and
their efforts
provided a good
laugh besides. CB
