SFVS implementation - at EU level

• Implemented since 2009/2010 school year in 24 MS (all except UK, SE, FI + GR exceptionally this year) - the 2014/2015 school year is the 6th year of implementation of the scheme

• In 2014/2015 school year: over 10,2 million children in more than 68 000 schools (data for 24 MS)

• Budget is increased as from 2014/2015 to € 150 million and

75% - 90% co-financing rates (CAP 2020 reform)

• In most MS, the main target group are children 6-10 years but can cover groups ranging from nurseries to secondary schools

• In addition to the portions of F&V, children are offered also

accompanying measures (farm visits, gardening sessions …), cofinanced by the EU as from 2014/2015

Budgetary aspects: the overall implementation rate declines of 9 points from 80 % in 2013/2014 to 71 % in 2014/2015

But the expenditure increase by + 34 € million, from 72 € million paid in 2013/214 to 106 € million paid in 2014/2015

Products distributed

- The products most often distributed are fresh produce (93%) rather than processed products (7%)

- The fruits and vegetables are mainly from local origin,

- The products remain related to culinary and cultural

specificities of the Member State.
