    Luxury Lake Garda - Grand Hotel Gardone

    ITINERARYDAY 1 Cumbria to Hull, via York with some time at leisure before joining the overnight sailing to Rotterdam. DAY 2 We travel from Rotterdam through Holland to Germany for a lunch stop in the Bonn area before heading to Stuttgart and our overnight hotel the Marriott. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 3 A scenic journey today as we travel through Switzerland via Lucerne and the Gottard tunnel into Italy and Lake Garda, arriving at our hotel, The Grand Hotel Gardone in time for dinner. DAY 4 A day at leisure to relax, sit and enjoy the glorious views from one of the hotels many lakeside terraces or explore Gardone Riviera, a small yet beautiful resort with a piazza sloping towards the lakeshore and a peaceful promenade. Dinner in the hotel tonight. DAY 5 Our first visit today is the town of Salò, the elegant historic centre is lined with beautiful, historical buildings, pretty boutiques and restaurants, we continue onto the spectacular Medieval spa town of Sirmione situated at the south end of Lake Garda with its rich historical and artistic heritage. Late afternoon we board a boat for the return journey across the Lake to Gardone and our hotel. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 6 Today we visit Verona, one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, famous for its opera, Roman Amphitheatre and the fictitious home of Romeo and Juliet. We include a guided tour showing you the highlights of the city before time at leisure for lunch and to explore at your own pace. We return to the Grand Hotel for dinner. DAY 7 Today we journey by coach to the northern End of Lake Garda travelling along the picturesque east side of the lake, we pass through many pretty villages before calling at the Medieval town of Malcesine, perched on the lake’s edge under the shadow of Monte Baldo, here you can take the cable car to the summit for spectacular views across the lake and the Dolomites before exploring the cobbled streets of the old town We then continue via Torbole to Riva Del Garda with its ancient castle. We return to Gardone for a final evening at the Grand Hotel. DAY 8 We leave our hosts at the Grand Hotel Gardone for the return journey through Northern Italy and Switzerland to Germany and our overnight stay at the Marriott hotel Stuttgart.Dinner in the hotel. DAY 9 We travel north with a stop for lunch in the Rhine Valley area before arriving in Rotterdam to join the overnight P&O sailing to Hull. DAY 10 Arriving back to the UK, we return home to Cumbria.

    ITINERARYDAY 1 A Morning departure from Cumbria with a visit to Harrogate for lunch en route to Hull and the overnight P&O ferry crossing to Rotterdam. DAY 2 We travel through Holland into Germany pausing for lunch in the Rhine Valley before arriving in Karlsruhe at our overnight hotel the Leonardo. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 3 After breakfast we continue via Munich and Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass and on into Italy and our resort of Fai Della Paganella. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 4 A day at leisure to simply relax and enjoy the mountain scenery or join Fausto, the hotel owner, for a guided walk of the village and surrounding countryside, a picnic lunch with wine is included. DAY 5 Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the Western Dolomites to Merano, a lovely historic spa town. We return via the Adige valley wine route and Lake Caldaro. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 6 We enjoy a full day tour of the fabulous Brenta Dolomites. Driving up the Val di Sole, we follow the scenic valley and then over the pass at Madonna di Campiglio, ‘The Pearl of the Dolomites’ where we enjoy a stop before continuing on our scenic excursion following the route passing Lake Trenno on our return to Paganella. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 7 For todays excursion we head south out of the mountains to Lake Garda and the popular resort of Riva Del Garda. Farewell dinner in the hotel this evening. DAY 8 We leave our hosts in the Dolomites for the return journey through northern Italy and Austria into Germany and our overnight stay in Karlsruhe. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 9 Following Breakfast we leave Karlsruhe and continue through Northern Germany on our way to Rotterdam and the overnight ferry to Hull. DAY 10 Hull to Cumbria, arriving home early afternoon.

    The Beautiful Black Forest & The Chrysanthemum Festival

    ITINERARYDAY 1 We depart from Cumbria for our journey to York, after some time at leisure we continue to Hull joining the overnight P&O sailing to Rotterdam. DAY 2 Leaving Rotterdam we travel through Holland to the German Border and on past Cologne and Heidelberg on our way into the Black Forest and our hotel the Balladins in Offenburg. DAY 3 After breakfast today we delve deep into the Black Forest, stopping at Oberwolfach, famous for its Silver Mine, this popular tourist attraction now offers an insight into the life of a mine worker. Our next visit is to the impressive Triberg Waterfalls, which at over 160metres high are an impressive sight. We then visit the Worlds Largest Cuckoo Clock. Dinner on our return to the hotel. DAY 4 Today we head south to the beautiful town of Lahr. We have a morning guided tour and an insight into how over the last 10 years Lahr has become known internationally as the home of the Chrysanthemum through its annual flower festival. Millions of chrysanthemums have been planted throughout the town creating beautiful flower masterpieces wherever you go. Spend the afternoon wandering between flower ballerinas and flower peacocks, and enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafés. Dinner at the hotel. DAY 5 Today we visit Titisee, arguably the Black Forest’s most famous lake, we include a boat trip to see the beautiful shoreline. Then we are treated to a demonstration on how to bake the world famous Black Forest Gateau, along with chance to sample this local delicacy. In the afternoon we visit the open-air Klausenhof Farming Museum to see how the land was worked through history. The farm dates back to 1424 and is one of the oldest houses in the Black Forest. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 6 We leave our hosts at the Balladins hotel and head north, we stop for lunch and sightseeing in Heidelberg, a town on the Neckar River known for its distinguished 14th-century university. Wander around the town, along the river or ride the Bergbahn funicular to reach Heidelberg Castle and its gardens, which have sweeping views over the river and town.     ITINERARYFRIDAY 11TH NOVEMBER A mid morning departure from Cumbria as we head to Blackpool and our hotel, the 4 star Hilton. Dinner in the hotel is followed by tonight’s music and dancing in the ballroom, which begins with Billy McFarland and the House Band, Billy has been involved in the Irish Music scene since the late 1970’s, he and his band play their own style of Irish Country giving all the Ballads a beat and a swing. Next we have John McNicholl, John was the proud recipient of the Best Newcomer Award from Country Music UK, in 2001. Other great highlights of John’s singing career to date include sharing a stage with Daniel O’ Donnell and Sir Cliff Richard at the Kincasslagh Festival, County Donegal. John also played support to the legendary Sir. Elton John and has received the Hot Country Award for Best CD & DVD for his latest Album ’Love Songs’.     Yorkshire Big Band Weekend with Joe Loss Orchestra

    ITINERARYDAY 1 We leave Cumbria in the morning and head via Settle to the Gateway to the Dales town of Skipton, time for lunch before continuing onto our hotel the Cedar Court, situated between Huddersfield and Halifax. We enjoy a welcome drink prior to dinner and a relaxing evening with light entertainment. DAY 2 After breakfast today we make for the small market town of Otley. We enjoy an ‘Emmerdale’ drive taking in some of the delightful Yorkshire scenery, such as the Washburn Valley with its picturesque reservoir. We are then on to Harrogate for lunch and enjoy free time in this delightful town with acres of parklands, superb shops, delightful cafes, including the famous Betty’s. We return to the hotel to get ready for a Gala Dinner and tonight’s extravaganza – the highlight of the weekend – an evening with the legendary Joe Loss Orchestra, now led by Todd Miller. 2017 is the band’s 87th year and it is the longest running entertainment company of any kind. Since 1930 the band has never disbanded or reformed. It has been in constant operation throughout the world with Britain’s best musicians and singers performing totally live. The Big Band and singers will perform hits from the 50’s to the 80’s. DAY 3 A leisurely breakfast before we head into West Yorkshire and Hebden Bridge, in the Calder Valley. There is time for a break here with chance for a coffee in one of the many tearooms. From here we head off over Oxenhope Moor to Haworth, with its famous cobbled Main Street. Visit the Bronte Parsonage to learn all about the sisters and their notorious brother. Time for lunch before we visit the station and join the famous Worth Valley Railway. Tea and Biscuits are served on the train. Oakworth station is the most famous stop on the line, having featured in the 1970 film ‘The Railway Children’. The station retains its Edwardian splendour and is kept as close to the condition it was in 1905-1914. The little station of Damems was used as Ormston in the TV series Born and Bred. Our steam train takes us to Keighley with chance to stretch your legs before we catch the return train. Rejoining the coach at Haworth we head off back to the hotel in time to relax and enjoy a drink before dinner and our final night of entertainment. DAY 4 Time to leave our hosts at the Cedar Court hotel and head home to Cumbria, calling at the Boundary Mill store in Colne, time for a little retail therapy and some lunch before the remainder of the journey home.

    ITINERARYDAY 1 A morning departure from Cumbria as we head south to Liverpool city centre, explore the rejuvenated Albert Dock complex, take in one of the city’s many museums, perhaps visit the Liverpool One shopping centre or spend time looking around the stalls of Liverpool’s Christmas Market, now in it’s 11th year, with stalls selling gifts from around the world, including African wall hangings, South American instruments to German beers and Italian pastries, in addition to the traditional arts and crafts. Another highlight is the Christmas tree on Church Street, illuminated by a record 50,000 lights. We leave Liverpool late afternoon for the short journey to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 2 Today after breakfast we head south across the River Mersey to Chester, here you can marvel at this wonderful city with its world famous Row Galleries, the most complete city walls in Britain, famous Eastgate Clock and Cathedral, in addition to the fantastic high street shopping you can spend time wandering around the 70 traditional wooden chalets of the Christmas market, situated in the heart of Chester, all wrapped around a sparkling Christmas tree. There will be an abundance of festive treats and gifts on offer, including quality local and regional products, crafts, clothing, accessories, jewelry, unique gifts and stocking fillers which are sure to make the perfect present. Don’t forget to sample the delicious hot food and drink, including tasty mulled wine and hot chocolate; the perfect way to keep warm whilst enjoying the market. We return to the Crowne Plaza for dinner. DAY 3 A final breakfast before we leave our hosts at the Crowne Plaza hotel and head to Manchester for some free time to explore the award winning Christmas market situated throughout the city centre. Manchester has had a traditional continental market since 1999 and is now the biggest in the UK. We leave for the return to Cumbria late afternoon.

We leave late afternoon for the journey south towards Telford and our hotel the Buckatree Hall. Dinner in the hotel. DAY 2 After breakfast in the hotel we make the short drive into the Ironbridge Gorge and Blists Hill where we join the residents of this Victorian Town as they get in to the festive spirit, as you wander around the town you will experience the atmosphere of a bygone era and be treated to an array of traditional celebrations from the 1800s. In the cosy cottages listen to stories of life more than 100 years ago, enjoy seasonal music from bands and choirs alongside fabulously festive entertainment from our group of actors. Of course, there’ll be chance to do some Christmas present shopping in the town’s shops. We return to the hotel for dinner followed by entertainment. DAY 3 After breakfast we head to Bridgnorth, this interesting town is split between hilltop and ground with a funicular connecting the two levels. Here we join the Severn Valley Railway for a delightful ride along the valley to Kidderminster where we rejoin our coach for the journey home to Cumbria, arriving back early evening.

    Longleat Festival of Light & Bath Christmas Market

    ITINERARYDAY 1 We depart Cumbria for the journey south via the motorway system to Worcester, time at leisure for a late lunch in this lovely cathedral city, before leaving late afternoon for the journey via Cirencester to Blunsdon on the outskirts of Swindon and our hotel the Best Western Premier Blunsdon House. After checking in we have dinner served in the hotel restaurant. DAY 2 After a leisurely breakfast we make our way south to Longleat, where you can enjoy animal encounters from the comfort of our coach on a drive through the famous Safari Park. Then see Longleat House, one of the country’s finest examples of Elizabethan architecture, dressed for Christmas. Find the giant Singing Christmas Tree with hundreds of dazzling lights dancing in time to much-loved festive tunes. To top it all off, experience the Festival of Light as Longleat stages Europe’s largest ever display of giant Chinese lanterns transforming the estate into a glowing winter wonderland, beautiful by daylight but incredible after dark. The display will cover more than 30 acres and feature a variety of traditional Chinese designs including dragons and pagodas alongside giant recreations of some of Longleat Safari Park’s famous animals. 2016 is a special year for Longleat as it is the 50th anniversary of the Safari Park. The Festival of Light marks the end of these celebrations and promises to be bigger, bolder, brighter and even more magical than ever. We return to the hotel for a late dinner. DAY 3 This morning we head to the World Heritage city of Bath, as well as the stunning Bath Abbey, Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and Royal Crescent, the centre of Bath is the setting for one of the very best UK Christmas Markets, more than 150 traditional wooden chalets adorn the streets; each one offering unique, handmade and unusual gifts, decorations and food items. Final dinner at the Blunsdon House Hotel. DAY 4 We depart the hotel after breakfast and head north through the Cotswolds, stopping off in the little Venice of the Cotswolds, Bourton on the Water, we then head via Evesham to the Midlands then home to Cumbria, arriving back early evening.
