Time Flies

Oh, how Time Flies! It seems like just a few short weeks ago that we

started planning the 2020 Quilt Show. It is now a mere month before

your quilts must be photo ready and your entry forms turned in. Mark

and his team have worked tirelessly to assure that they are ready to

present your quilts. Now it is your turn to come through with quilts that

span the world of quilting. We want both pieced and appliqué, large

and small, traditional and art quilts, beginner and expert level. We

want to see them all. Challenges have been issued that don’t require a

large quilt… choose one and stretch your imagination.

I will admit I have not completed a quilt that I deem “Show worthy”. But

I do have many unfinished quilts in my sewing room each at different

levels of completion:

Some need bound

Some need quilted and bound

Some need borders added, then quilted and bound

Some need blocks sewn together, borders added, then quilted, and

bond

You get the point. I am starting with the ones that are closest to com-

pletion, not necessarily the most “Show worthy”. With this goal in mind

I hope that I can have 5 quilts ready to be photographed by the entry

deadline and completed before the turn in date. If my more complex

quilts do not get finished, that’s OK. There is always the next show.

Activities by Grace Clarke

February 1, 2020 Saturday, Workday, FUMC Music Room 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Potluck Salad Luncheon, Door Prizes and Ice Cream Social Oh My!

The National QOV Foundation holds a national sew-in day which not only includes the U.S but also Canada,

Australia and the U.K.! It will be held annually on the first Saturday of February. This year the guild’s QOV bee

lead by Barbara Baxter, will host the quarterly workday and observe this QOV tradition. In addition to QOV

projects, we will assist Gwen Goldsberry with projects for VA Voluntary Services.

If you are a QOV member - Click HERE for Member Registration

Not yet a QOV member, Click HERE for Non-Member Registration

Logon to register for door prizes awarded by the National QOV Foundation! Need not be a member of QOV

to register for prizes. It’s their fun way of counting how many people actually participate.

Please plan on attending as we are having our own door prizes, a potluck salad luncheon and we will reveal

the day’s accomplishments during an ice cream social. Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. Life

happens! Come and go as needed, we’re glad for the help pressing, making kits, cutting and sewing.

June 6, 2020 Saturday, Workday, FUMC Music Room 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please save the date. (Ear marked for Quilts for Kids and Project Linus projects)
