The trusted leader for high-performance UV-curable fiber optic materials...In the fast-paced world of optical fiber and cable manufacturing, DSM has been a trusted leader for more than four decades. We were there at the inception of the industry, designing the very first UV-curable fiber coatings that would make mass fiber production possible, and we’ve been there ever since — working with leading fiber and cable manufacturers to bring the latest material advancements to the world’s telecommunications market. Today, DeSolite®, Cablelite® and Bufferlite® materials are the industry standard for fiber protection and identification worldwide. Around the globe, DSM is protecting network investments for the future.

DeSolite® Supercoatings significantly improve fiber microbending sensitivity at the fastest processing speeds, ensuring the best economy of high speed production and superior attenuation performance. In standard basket-weave testing, DeSolite® Supercoatings display 90% less sensitivity to microbend attenuation than prior systems—a performance advantage critical for today’s new FTTx designs, especially at the longer wavelengths of 1625nm.

In addition to improved microbending sensitivity, DeSolite® Supercoatings demonstrate high reliability in temperature extremes, ensuring a robust solution especially in low temperature environments. Other enhanced performance properties include:

• reduced volatility

• faster cure speed

• advanced mechanical properties

Combining the superior performance of DeSolite® Supercoatings with a product from DSM’s complete line of cabling materials can add further protection to your cable, enhance optical performance, and increase cable deployment rates.

DSM’s State of-the-Art Testing CapabilityDSM utilizes state-of-the art techniques that have proven critical for characterizing coatings and their on-fiber performance. These techniques are key to ensuring fiber robustness and protecting network investments for the future.

During the product development process, careful analysis is conducted on how new DSM materials behave in their liquid and cured states. This characterization allows DSM to predict actual performance benefits that will be realized on customer production lines.

DSM has developed and assembled a set of tools that takes fiber characterization to a new level, from liquid to on-fiber properties:

•Coatingliquidcharacterization

•Coatingfilmcharacterization

•Curingprocesscharacterization–realtimeDMA,realtimeFTIRandPhotoDSC

•Drawtowersimulator(DTS)

•Coatedopticalfibercharacterization–in-situmodulus,in-situDMA,it-situTg
