management. These include the deployment of visicoolers fitted
with Energy Management System (EMS) – which reduces electricity
consumption by nearly 35%, conversion of conventional boilers into
biomass or briquette based boilers, switching to energy efficient
lighting at offices and plant premises, extensive tree plantation etc.
The Company is also the sponsor of solar energy based lighting

Launching the CNG based vehicles, Mr. Ahmet Bozer said, “I would
first like to complement the government of Delhi and the Chief

Like the Delhi government, The Coca-Cola Company also takes pride
in being able to contribute to the cause of the Planet. It gives me
immense pleasure to accompany the Hon'ble Chief Minister in
launching Coca-Cola's green fleet in Delhi and take forward our
global efforts on climate protection.”
Speaking at the event, Mr. Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola

From the CEO's DeskDear Friends,
The growth story for Coca-Cola in India continued in the second
quarter of 2009 with unit case volumes registering a 33% growth over
the same quarter previous year. Over the last three quarters, our
growth has now been in excess of 25%. This strengthens my belief
that there is a lot of latent potential in the Indian packaged beverage
market and that we are doing the right things to unlock this potential.
Our growth is being led by our focus on market execution, route to
market strategy, investments in technology, infrastructure and
consumer marketing and package and product innovations and we
will continue to further build on each one of these.
I am also pleased to announce that we have now released our first ever
Environment Performance Report on the key parameters of water stewardship, packaging, climate protection and energy
management and solid waste management. This report details the quantum of resources that the Coca-Cola India system uses in
India and the efforts that the Company and its bottling partners are putting towards ensuring the sustainability of natural resources.
The release of this report is in keeping with our commitment to build a robust, sustainable and transparent business in India. The
report also fulfills another commitment made by the Company as a go forward on the recommendations of the Third Party
Assessment of our water resources management practices conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), which was
released in January 2008.
Among the other highlights of the quarter was the launch of the “green fleet” in Delhi. This fleet is our product delivery vehicles which
will henceforth run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The fleet was launched by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit
along with Mr. Ahmet Bozer, President, Eurasia and Africa Group, The Coca-Cola Company. Talking of environment preservation and
protection, we also celebrated World Environment Day with a lot of enthusiasm and purpose. We launched several new water
conservation projects and announced the completion of many others. We were also a part of awareness creation programs in
partnership with CII, FORCE, SOS Children's Villages, UN-Habitat and many others.
Earlier in the year, we launched the 20th edition of the Limca Book of Records (LBR) and we were honoured to have some of the
leading luminaries of India along with Amitabh Bachchan to launch the book. We also released a first ever Malyalam and a Hindi
edition of the book. LBR has always been a platform for Indians, unknown, unheard and unsung to showcase their special talents
and we owe it to our people to continue to widen LBR's reach and appeal.
We remain committed to work with communities across the country and I look forward to your continued support in carrying the
growth momentum forward.
Best Regards
Atul Singh,President & CEO, Coca-Cola India

Mr. Ahmet Bozer, President of the Eurasia and Africa Group,
the biggest group in The Coca-Cola Company combining
operations in 90 countries with a total population of 3.18
billion and the strength of more than 70,000 employees,
was recently in India. In an exclusive interview to Coca-Cola
Connect, he shared his views on the Indian market, its
growth potential and plans of Coca-Cola India going
forward. Below are excerpts of the interview.
"There's a lot of latent potential in the India beverage market"their choice at the right place at the right time and at the
right price.
In India, we have a rich portfolio of products, very well known
and respected brands and we have had a relentless focus
on the route-to-market strategy and market execution.
Going forward we will continue to invest in technology,
infrastructure and consumer marketing and manufacturing
capacity.
Q. With growth in some developed markets slowing down,
does the criticality of emerging markets like India
increase?
We are facing some unprecedented challenges in terms of
the prevailing economic environment. This has had an
effect in some markets but on an overall basis, we are well
positioned for long-term growth. Consumers around the
world love and trust our brands and turn to us to provide
simple moments of refreshment nearly 1.6 billion times
every day. Every week, our system reaches 20 million
customers around the world with innovative, category-
leading brands and services that delivers at the point-of-
sale. There really is no better consumer business to be in
today…or tomorrow. Our system is truly like no other and is
now more aligned and more capable of creating value for
our consumers, our customers, and our shareowners. All of
this provides us confidence that The Coca-Cola Company
will continue to deliver consistent, long-term sustainable
growth and with great resolve will come out of this
tumultuous period much better than when we entered.
Q. Do you plan to infuse additional investments into India?
Our investments are on track and we are committed to the
Indian growth story. We will put adequate resources to
capture the growth potential in the Indian market.
Q. Any specific targets you have set for Coca-Cola India in
terms of growth?
At a personal level, I would be happy to see India amongst
the top 5 global businesses of The Coca-Cola Company.
However, that will happen only if we do the right things, each
time, every time. Frankly, we have just begun our journey in
India and there is a lot more to be achieved.
Q. India is now perhaps the fastest growing market in the
Coca-Cola system globally, though on a small base. What,
in your view, was the key to the impressive turnaround that
Coca-Cola in India has witnessed?
India is one of the focus markets for The Coca-Cola Company
and we have always believed in the Indian growth story. The
India business has now been growing for the last 12
quarters and in the last quarter – April – June 2009 the
business grew by 33% in unit case volumes. We believe that
our growth has been led by our continued focus on the route-
to-market strategy and ongoing investments in technology,
infrastructure and consumer marketing and by having the
right team and talent.
Q. How do you plan to maintain Coca-Cola's leadership
position in India?
There's a lot of latent potential in the India beverage market
and I believe that as an industry we have just about started
to unlock the potential. Also, there is enough room for all
major players in the Indian beverage market to grow. The key
is to be able to provide the consumers with the product of
