likely to succeed. Testing at Fort Huachuca and the Sierra Vista Campus are by appointmentonly. Tests are offered at the Douglas Campus during regular business hours or by schedulingan evening test.

Meet with a CounselorOnce you have your placement test scores, visit a counselor in Student Services for pre-

enrollment advisement and update your degree plan.

Register for Classes and Pay FeesFees must be paid at the time of enrollment. If you have been awarded financial aid, your

registration will be retained, and you will not be dropped for non-payment. You can alsoarrange partial payments using Facts/e-Cashier through your CC account on myCochise.

YOUMAY ATTEND COCHISE COLLEGE IF YOU ARE:

• a graduate of a regionally accredited high school, or have a GED

• 18 years of age or older on or before the first day of classes,

• a transfer student in good standing from another college or university

• currently attending high school with a Concurrent Enrollment Form signed by yourparent and high school counselor.

Additional admissions criteria are required for International, Aviation, Nursing,and transfer students.

APPLYING FOR ADMISSIONComplete the Cochise College application (in English or Spanish) at

www.cochise.edu/apply or at the Admissions Office. Admission to Cochise College does notguarantee enrollment in any specific course or program. Mail or bring the completed paperform to the Cochise College Admissions Office:

WHO CAN ATTENDCOCHISE COLLEGE?


PROP. 300/TUITION ASSESSMENTProposition 300 requires eligibility verification for U.S. citizens and qualifying legal immi-

grants for in-state tuition rates. You only need to complete the tuition assessment processonce, and while Prop 300 does not prevent anyone from enrolling at Cochise College, stu-dents who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents must pay out-of-state tuition rates.If you are not a citizen or legal resident, you are not entitled to waivers, grants, scholarships,

or any other type of financial assistance subsidized with state monies. A printable TuitionAssessment Form, instructions, and a list of qualifying documents to verify eligibility for in-state tuition are available online at www.cochise.edu/residency.Return your documentation to the college’s Admissions and Registration Office: e-mail

OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTSStudents 18 years of age or older who have not established a residence in Arizona for at least

one year immediately prior to the first day of class are classified as out-of-state residents fortuition purposes. Residency does not change automatically, so file proper documentation forreview and approval with the Admissions Office if you wish to change your residency statusprior to registration. Status will change the term following approval of your request and is notretroactive.If you are under 18 years of age at the beginning of classes, your residency status is deter-

RESIDENCY INFORMATION


DOUGLAS CAMPUS ONLY (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)Room and board (meals) are combined. If you live in a residence hall, you must participate

in the board program.One-bedroom apartments are available for families at a rate of $350 permonth, payable monthly in advance.Apartment residents do not have to purchase a meal plan.A deposit is required for a residence hall ($100) or an apartment ($150) prior to check-in.Single rooms and apartments have special requirements. Contact the Housing Office at

[email protected] or (520) 417-4062. Room and board is due at registration or by the lastday to add classes in a term.Students are eligible for a 50% refund of room fees if leaving residence within 21 days after

the first day of classes of each semester or 21 days from the start date of a specific program inwhich they are enrolled. Room fees will not be reimbursed after the 21st day as specifiedabove.

ON-CAMPUS LIVINGTHE COCHISE COMBOAdd it all up and college can be expensive. Even though Cochise College tuition rates are

among the lowest in Arizona, we’re proud to offer the Cochise Combo on the DouglasCampus.Whether you choose to reside in the new Desert View Townhouses or in Chiricahuaor Huachucha Hall, you can save big with the Cochise Combo: Enroll in and maintain a 16-hour class schedule and you’re eligible for complementary housing with the purchase of aweekly 19-meal plan for the semester. Those savings really add up! Reduced housing rates arealso offered based on a 12- to 15-hour schedule and for full-time enrollment under 12 cred-it hours.

Summer financial aid is limited. The following funds may be available: Pell Grant andStafford Loan (only available if you did not receive a full-time award both fall and springterms), SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant), Federal Work-Study and FryGrant. The Summer Financial Aid Application and complete instructions will be available onApril 11 and must be completed and returned to the Financial Aid Office by 5 p.m. onJune 15. A hold will be put on your classes (since the pay-as-you-go policy is in effect) untilyour summer award can be calculated and awarded. If you do not qualify for summer aid, itwill then be your responsibility to pay for your classes. You must register for all summer class-es by June 15, this includes 2nd five-week sessions. Financial aid checks will be disbursed byMay 23 for Summer I classes and by June 27 for Summer II classes.Late applications will not be accepted.

Federal Title IV Financial Aid RefundsStudents who receive federal financial aid funds are subject to the federal refund policy.

Students who completely withdraw before completing 60 percent of the term are subject tothis policy and will probably owe a repayment of the federal funds. Students have 45 days toreturn the funds to Cochise College. If repayment is not made during the 45 days, the repay-ment owed will be turned over to the department of education for collection. Once a repay-ment is turned over to the department of education, eligibility for additional federal aid issuspended until satisfactory payment arrangements are made. Students who do not attendclass are responsible for returning 100 percent of all funds received.

Veterans Assistance and BenefitsThe Veterans Affairs Office provides information and assistance to students applying for

VA educational benefits. The office staff also serves as liaison between Cochise College stu-dents and the Veterans’ Administration. A Semester Benefit Request form must be submittedfor each semester that the veteran wants to receive benefits.

Services offered include:

� Help collecting, filling out, and filing all necessary documents and forms;

� Enrollment certification for veterans and dependents using veterans’ educational benefits; and

� Assistance in applying for other types of financial aid.

The Veterans Affairs Office is located in the Student Services Building on the Sierra VistaCampus. Regular office hours are observed.

REFUNDSIf you make an official withdrawal from a course or from the college, you may be due a

refund of tuition and laboratory fees, though registration and technology fees are nonre-fundable. Official withdrawals are made online, through the registrar, or through the centerdirectors in Benson, Willcox or Nogales/Santa Cruz Centers.Note: Stopping payment on a check does not constitute an official withdrawal and may

result in additional fees and collection costs.If you qualify for a refund of tuition and lab, no additional documentation is required once

written notification of withdrawal has been submitted. All refunds and deposits due to youwill first be applied to any fees owed the college. Credits for fees from dropped or cancelledclasses may be applied to other classes added during the same semester. Fees may not betransferred from regular semester session to second eight-week session.The refund schedule begins the day that classes officially begin and extends until the

halfway point for the enrolled term. A portion of tuition and lab fees will be refunded basedon the refund schedule printed below. Registration fees are nonrefundable, except when all ofthe student's classes are cancelled by the College.

CANCELLED CLASSESIf a class is cancelled by Cochise College, you will receive a full refund of all applicable fees.

No documentation is needed for refunds due to cancelled classes.

ISSUANCE OF REFUNDSFederal financial assistance refunds are subject to federal regulations. Refunds are issued to

HigherOne unless fees were paid by credit card, in which case refunds will be credited to thecredit card account. Refund checks are only processed after the close of registration (the lastday to add classes).Please allow three weeks for processing from that date or the date the refund is created,

whichever is later. Refunds will be sent to HigherOne. No refunds will be issued in cash, andno refunds will be issued immediately upon withdrawal from a class, class cancellation, orwithdrawal from a residence hall.

ROOM AND BOARD REFUNDSPartial refunds on room fees are eligible if you leave student housing within 21 days after

the first day of classes each semester, or with 21 days from the start date of a specific programin which you are enrolled. cially through the director of housing. If you withdraw totally from the college, you must doso officially through Records and Registration or online through myCochise.

ADDING OR DROPPING A CLASSIf you wish to add a class, drop a class, or change your schedule:• Request a drop-add form from Admissions & Registration Office• Online students should contact the online advisor for assistance• Obtain the signature of an advisor and any other required signature• Sign the drop-add slip and submit to the Registration Office on either campus• Proceed to the cashier and pay tuition and fees if applicable

CLASS CREDIT LIMITATIONSThe vice president for instruction has established the following maximum registration limits:

• Concurrently enrolled high school students: 11 units• Beginning freshman (first-time college student): 18 units• All other students:

With cumulative GPA of greater than 2.49: 19 unitsWith cumulative GPA of 2.00-2.49: 16 unitsWith cumulative GPA less than 2.00: 12 units

Note: Due to the nature of the Professional Pilot Technology, and Prison Education vocational programs, the college

exempts students enrolled in the program from the 19-unit maximum. The college also exempts cooperative education

units from student load limitations.

INSTRUCTOR DROPAn instructor may drop you for not attending class. The college will not refund tuition and

fees if you are dropped from class for nonattendance.

WITHDRAWAL FROM COLLEGEIf you wish to totally withdraw from the college, you can withdraw online through your CC

Account and myCochise or obtain a withdrawal form from the Registration Office. Failure toofficially withdraw may jeopardize the receipt of any refunds due to you and may furtherresult in the assignment of a grade of “F” for all courses in which you may be enrolled.

CAMPUS CRIME REPORT/STUDENT RIGHT-TO-KNOWAs required by federal statute and regulations, Cochise College prepares an annual securi-

ty report, detailing college policies on crime prevention and sex offenses, and also providingstatistics covering crimes reported on campus, including the number of arrests for liquor lawand/or drug violations and weapons possessions.The crime report is updated each September; a drug and alcohol free workplace report is

STUDENT COMPLAINTSWhile all complaints directed to college personnel by students are considered important and

will be addressed by the respective employee, department and/or office personnel pursuant toPolicy 4008 (“Student Grievances and Due Process”), only formal, written student complaints,including those sent by e-mail, filed with the offices of the college president or the vice presi-dent for instruction/provost by current students are considered official complaints.Official complaints are documented, investigated, their resolution and/or disposition

noted, with a record of such complaints maintained for no less than two years. Students andinstitutional personnel are hereby advised that information about these official complaintswill be shared with the college’s accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission of theNorth Central Association; however, individual identities of students will be shielded withoutthe express permission of said complainants.The complaint log is reviewed on an annual basis by the vice president for instruc-
