Espresso Martini 8.00Grey Goose vodka, Tia Maria and fresh espresso shaken and topped with chocolate shavings.

Many people say that the Espresso Martini was created by Dick Bradsell in 1983 while at the Brasserie Soho in London for a woman who asked for something that would “wake me up”. According to Dick Bradsell, “The coffee machine at the Soho Brasseries was right next to the station where I served drinks. It was a nightmare,as there were coffee grounds everywhere, so coffee was very much on my mind. And it was all about vodka back then – it was all people were drinking.”

Rum cocktailsAged Rum Daiquiri 7.00Diplomatico rum, lime and sugar syrup shaken to perfection and finished with a sugared rim.

This story revolves around Jennings Stockton Cox, one of the first iron miners on the island of Cuba, and generally credited with creating the original Daiquiri. The story goes that while he was entertaining guests one night, he ran out of the gin. He went out and purchased the easiest liquor he could find, which was rum. Adding lemons, sugar, mineral water and ice to the rum, he turned it into a punch for his guests. They loved it, and wanted to know what the name of it was. He did not have a name for it. It should have been called a rum sour according to the conventions of the day. Cox did not feel that was good enough for such a fine drink, so he named it for the nearby beach and called it Daiquiri.

Spiced Mojito £7.50Our twist on the classic, with the addition of Sailor Jerry, fresh ginger and apple juice.

Mixed Berry Caipirinha £7.00Sagatiba Cachaca and crème de cassis churned with fresh lime, raspberries and strawberries, for total fruitiness

CARAMEL MANHATTAN 8.00Our 29 spin on this classic with the infamous Hudson Manhattan Rye, however please let us know if you wish to try with a different bourbon from our wide selection.

Whoever it was that conjured up the Manhattan, the classic potion that calls for skillfully integrating American whiskey - straight rye was probably the spirit of choice in the 19th century, though bourbon is quite acceptable today - with sweet vermouth and aromatic bitters, came up with a drink that is truly glorious.

Pineapple & coconut sour 7.00Auchentoshan 3 Wood, lemon juice, coconut syrup and pineapple juice, shaken and served over ice.

They say where you’re from says a lot about who you are. Most single malts are from the middle of nowhere but Auchentoshan is different.

They were forged in the fires of the Industrial Revolution in Glasgow and the city is a part of them.

Auchentoshan isn’t triple distilled because it’s tradition but because that’s what it takes to create a delicate flavour unlike any other. Smooth, yet gutsy. Approachable, yet deep.

Club Royal £7.50Chivas Regal shaken with sugar syrup, grenadine, lemon and an egg white

Ruby Old Fashioned £7.50Haig whisky mixed with ruby port and a dash of bitters, garnished with a maraschino cherry. Our twist on an old classic

French 75 9.00Hendricks gin with a splash of fresh lemon juice and simple sugar syrup, shaken and topped up with Prosecco and a ribbon of cucumber. An absolute classic.

The French 75 is a cocktail held in such high esteem that it falls easily, though with the elegance and grace one would expect of a high-society French Madame, into the realm of a classic cocktail. The French 75 is one to turn to in times of celebration; to raise your glass and ring in the new year, the new baby, the new job, the new… teapot. Yep that will do.

It is true that whisky improves with age. The older I get, the more I like it
