The call centre received 30,588 phone calls during this period.

During the June quarter a number of system updates were applied to the Qikkids database application; Council's web content filtering solution was upgraded to the latest versions and all appropriate patches were installed; new printing; reservation servers were built for all the libraries in preparation for a new Standard Operating System image to be deployed; a number of new windows Domain Controllers were built and patched to the latest versions; forest and domain level functionality was raised; and new supporting infrastructure was built. Throughout the period, all systems performed as expected with some minor disruptions to network services due to planned outages to implement a new Active Directory Scheme. Most of the outages were undertaken after hours to minimise customer impact. A faulty Telstra connection at the Nursery resulted in a one day outage while contractors repaired the fault.

Following the separation of the IT Helpdesk function from Business Support, processes have been put in place to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the

Helpdesk.

During the June quarter, Council received 22 precinct meeting minutes, with 71 resolutions requiring action by Council staff. All precinct minutes were responded to, 81% within target time frames, with the remainder taking longer than 21 days. This was largely due to delays in gaining clarification over resolutions, as a result of a change in precinct executive. A special Precinct Coordination Committee Meeting was held on 21 May 2014 to discuss Light Rail and was attended by 14 Precinct Executives representing all ten Precincts. Seven requests for printing flyers were received during the quarter and a total of 9,650 flyers were produced for distribution. All were printed well within agreed service level time frames. All minutes received and Council responses sent have been posted on the Council website.

Highlights: Production of promotional material for Council’s inaugural youth band competition (Bandslam) with the design and content aimed to appeal to young people and

encourage them to either enter or vote in the competition.

The Communications Department developed and implemented nine communication plans to inform the community of important Council news, projects, events and more. Plans were developed to inform on the Ocean View Reserve upgrade, Paine Reserve water saving initiatives, the Malabar food waste program, a stormwater pollution campaign and the following events: Bandslam, Beach Breaks, the Kingsford Smith mural unveiling, the Boer War plaque unveiling, Randwick Community Day. A combined consultation/communications approach was implemented for the Coogee survey, which covers views on the Dunningham Reserve toilets, alcohol in beachside parks and footpaths upgrades.

The May 2014 edition of the community newsletter – the special 2014-15 Budget edition – was distributed to 55,000 households in Randwick City. In addition to the Budget highlights, a snapshot of Council services and information about proposed 2014-15 projects, the newsletter featured the Light Rail support plan; the multi-storey car park consultation; a Chifley Sports Reserve update; the opening of Frank Doyle playground; and announced a bequest to Council by a local doctor. The Communications Department also produced 13 editions of the weekly Randwick eNews. The number of subscribers to eNews increased slightly from 9,606 to 10,025. The average open rate was 33.4 per cent and the average click through rate was 25.5 per

cent.

Highlights: The most popular ‘clicked through’ story in eNews was the Light Rail update which featured an interactive ‘flythrough’ video, which got almost 500 clicks from

subscribers.
