Cœur says Hello:

This morning I looked out of the window and said to mysel:f oh how beautiful it looks outside. The rooftops of the houses covered in snow. White everywhere and the snow flakes slowly falling down. There is just something about this time of the year, which amazes me. I have found thispretty quote, which describes it perfectly.

“December: a month of lights, snow and feasts; time to make amends and tie loose ends; finish off what you started

and hope your wishes come true.”

This makes me want christmas to arrive sooner and I hope that everyone else is as excited as I am...

Maison Martin Margiela is following the hot on the heels of Karl Lagerfeld, Lavin, Versace and

Jimmy Choo by joining forces with H&M. The highly-anticipated collection hits the stores on

November 15th. A representative for the house said that “the clothing would mostly be reissued pieces from the Margiela archives, and these

garments definitely embody the classic oversize silhouettes, deconstructed styling, and incorpora-tion of found objects the house became famous for. But while prices for original Margiela pieces can reach thousands of do llars, prices for this

collaboration run from $13 to $399.Aren’t we all excited about that!

Fashionary Planner - The first all-year planner released with vital fashion information. The planner has all the normal and important

bits a usual planner needs, BUT also includes in-depth refer-ence of body measurements, measurement tools, a load of figure poses along with several pages full of industry knowledge. It also offers pages with pattern samples and upcoming fashion events.

It is available in a dark grey and is available via Fashionary ’s online store for only $23.90.

These incredible padded toe cap boots by UNIQUE are Coeur ’s pick of the month. Easy to wear for any occasion, they are the highlight of every outfit with their petrol colour. They are

available via TOPSHOP.com and cost £120. Simple but different thats what we like.

Confirmed news: Alexander Wang is going to be the new creative direc-tor for Balenciaga . Without a doubt, the New York based designer will bring fresh energy and potential to the Spanish brand. Alexander Wang being one of the brightest within the curent crop of American high-fash-ion designers he will succeed to fullfil an outstanding job at the fashion

house. We are excited to see how this is going to develop further and a new collection of Balenciaga with a touch of Wang.

Every month Cœur chooses their favourite girl of the month and their favouriteman of the month. These two are this month’s finest

By Jessica Karan

Nails haven’t been the same since Sharmadean Reid stepped out of the depths of East London and into the fashion world. They have since become an es -sential addition to every outfit and are more than just coloured nails; they are wild, eccentric and full of excitement.

Sharmadean Reid has always loved painting her nails and has done so from an early age. She used to watch ‘Clueless’ whilst co-ordinating her nails to match her eye shadow and outfit. Whilst in New York she experi -enced the nail salons there and soon realised that something was missing in London. On returning to East London and with the help of a few like-minded, creative friends, she set up WAH Nails. Feeling that London was the hub of everything ‘cool’ and a ‘trend-setting city ’ she decided that nails should definitely be a part of it. Nails are not just a part of your body, but also an expression of your per -sonality and unique style. She describes it as “ten tiny opportunities to accessories” and wants “the WAH experience to be representative of her and the vision she has for the salon and not to be anotherface -less brand.”

WAH nails has squashed any preconceptions women had about getting their nails done. Gone are the days of it being seen as tacky or ghetto to get nail designs. Nail art has now become one of the most popular fashion trends of re -cent times. Her nail designs have been seen at London Fashion Week and at parties for Marc Jacobs and Nike.Cœur 18

WAH Nails have painted nails nearly everywhere, such as the Grand Prix and the Brits. WAH Nails brings glam and fun together and makes you feel like a princess even with Nike Airs on your feet. Sharmadean didn’t think it could get any better until TOPSHOP offered her an opportunity to open a pop up shop in their store in Oxford Street in 2010. This later developed into a permanent nail salon within the premises.

She has since released a book in July 2012 “The WAH Nails Book of Nail Art”. The book is like a grown up girls comic book with stickers, profiles of the models, design your own, handy step-by-step guides and lots of in-formation on the WAH enterprise. The book is the WAH Team’s way of letting us into their world and sharing their passion and style with us. You can find twenty-five beautiful designs, which have also been seen on celebrities such as Rhianna and Katy Perry. Now girls all around the world can experi-ence getting unique,

glamorous and designer looking nails in the comfort of their own home.

The company began as just a quirky salon in London’s east end, something to bring together girls within Shar-madean’s community in Dalston, East London, and has grown into a huge phenomenon. At WAH Nails you can now get your nails done in style whilst enjoying a film night, an art show or a record launch party and they de-scribe themselves as “A new wave of street smart feminism” Much to every-one’s delight, you can even book pri-vate parties at the salon. WAH nails have well and truly brought the nail design trade out from it’s cheap and out-of-date reputation right into mod-ern contemporary

society and high up in the fashion ranks.

Sharmadean is one of the mostinteresting people in the fashion world right now. She is young, fresh and ex-citing at only 27 years old and with a young baby to look after too she is living proof that superwomen do ex-ist! Even if you aren’t able to get to London and have a look at the salon for yourself, you should get yourself the book, and indulge yourself in a little WAH of your very own.

Cœur LOVES:

Stefan Eckert; dreadlocks, tattoos and big earrings. He looks like an imposing rock star rather than an upcoming Fashion Designer, who produces elegant designs for women in Hamburg, Germany. Born in Nuremberg, he started off by studying fashion design at the AMD University in Hamburg and is one of the most exciting designers of the year. Later he got the oppor -tunity to work with Alexander McQueen in London, which was the most influential and developmental time in his career. Here he was able to really perfect his craft and inspired him to create his own method and unique designs. The work experience with McQueen was closely followed by a master ’s degree at the Central Saint Martins University. Here it was really competitive and he had to work incredibly hard in order to impress his tutors suf -ficiently. He had to try his very best not to end up on the “SHIT” table, with each of his pro -jects. Finishing his master ’s degree, Stefan Eckert was heading straight for the top, mana -ging to win himself second place at the famous New Faces Awards. Eckert was thrilled with the warm reception and positive feedback he received but he wanted more. He craved standing out as much as possible. He decided he wants to make it personal and work on his designs to give them the highest quality possible rather than copying a design over and over again. This is what makes his work so unique, so distinguished, so exclusive. Fashion has always fascinated him. Free from restraint and a boss to tell him what to do, he was able to paint a picture with his creations without principles, rules and compromises. If you were to ask Stefan, which person he identifies with the most, it would be Johnny Cash. At events such as Berlin Fashion Week there are two essentials that he could never be with -out; a pack of cigarettes and maybe one or more crates of chardonnay. In March 2009 he opened up his first store in the centre of Hamburg and knew straight away that this was the city. This was the place he wanted his designs to be worn in. His salon for fashion in Hamburg is inspired by the charm of French couture houses in the 1950’s and offers him a place to stay true to himself and to his designs. He realised that he could not be himself and mass-produce his work at the same time,

STEFAN ECKERT

Stefan Eckert Hologram Fashion Show , Photo courtesy stefaneckertdesigns.com

He describes this time as “full of turbu-lences”. This was the first Fashion Show made as purely Hologram projections, which were a huge amount of work, as nothing like this had ever been at-tempted before. The show was com-bined with several animations, dance and slow motion scenes bringing to-gether a beautiful and powerful visual illusion. Given the reception and the end result, he realised that the risk was worth it in order to accomplish some-thing to spectacular, so impressive, so distinct.Stefan’s divergence from many other young and maybe equally talented designers, is that the foundations of his work are based on honest values, such as beautiful fabrics, traditional techniques and outstanding manu-facturing. His fashion is pro-feminist, appreciative of real women’s bod-ies and his shows never include skinny models.

so this salon has become like a home where he welcomes his customers with intimacy and personality. The gar-ments represent dream-like elements combined with clear, exciting silhou-ettes, a touch of couture, intricate detailing and superb quality. Stefan’s passion is to create these designs for his customers with his personal touch to it, which differentiates him from a large amount of other young design-ers. Eckert described his autumn/winter collection 2010/2011 in one perfect sentence: “Unconcerned feminine elegance”. Stefan Eckert is always on the go. Always searching for his next idea. He hates to stand still and wants to be constantly filled with ide-as and new projects. In March 2011, he delves further than ever into the world of state-of-the-art fashion. Risker than anything he has ever attempted before, he begins working on the first hologram fashion show in the world.

He would much rather use curvaceous women such as Beyoncé, who is a modern woman with character, “boo-bs and a bum”.When Stefan Eckert closes the door of his store, he is just an every day Dad with a young family. His perfect day off would be spent enjoying his time with his family and if he ever needs a calm anchor in stressful times, he can always count on his daughter Caprice to comfort him. Eckert travels frequently and experiences plenty of exciting countries and cultures. When asked if he would ever take a crea-tive break, he says he might leave Hamburg for another fascinating city to reload his energy, but for now Ham-burg is where his heart is. As his luck relies on his family, friends and home, he describes himself as a happy man.

A very happy man.

Cœur’s PLAYLIST of the month:

47 Cœur 54

Page 59: Coeur Magazine

Cœur’s favourite of movie:

On the Road (original title) 2012

Director: Walter Salles

Writers: Jack Kerouac (book),

Jose Rivera (screenplay)

Stars:

Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Amy

Adams

Rating (stars): Summary:

Young writer Sal Paradise has his whole life shaken by the arrival of free-spirited Dean Moritarty. Dean comes along with his girlfriend Marylou. Whilst they travel across the country, they get to know and encounter a mix of people, who each impact their journey indelibly.

Cœur’s opinion:

The movie was incredible. Emotional and moving, whilst shocking at the same time. It shows a beautiful and very respectful version of the Jack Kerouac’s landmark novel. Walter Salles, the first one being able to realize the dream, has done a very respectable job. The movie includes stars such as Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart, which are great, but the man standing out is Garret Hedlund playing Dean Moriarty. You believe every word he says and are not able to keep your eyes of him. In total, the movie is beautifully done. GO and watch it.
