• Colgate’s trip to San Luis Obispo marks just the second time the Raiders have played football in California and

only the third game against a Golden State opponent. Col-gate played a home-and-home series against Saint Mary’s in 1999-2000, winning 43-13 in Moraga and falling 37-20 in Hamilton.

• Colgate Athletics over the summer completed multiple projects of immediate benefit to the football team. A

new FieldTurf playing surface was installed on Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium and renovations were completed on the football locker room (photo lower left), meeting room and academic center inside the Reid Athletic Center.

• Colgate returns six starters on the offensive side of the ball and three on defense, plus the punter. Offensive

starters returning are OL Ryan Paulish, OL Max Hartzman, OL Andy Simms, TE Nick Martinsen, WR Alex Greenawalt and TB Keyon Washington. On defense, the returning starters are DE Pat Afriyie, LB Trent Williams and DB Tyler Castillo. P Josh Cerra also returns.

• Check the left column of this page for the complete list of Colgate’s 11 preseason football award winners.

• James Holland Jr., returns to the Raider backfield after missing most of 2016 because of injury. Holland in 2015 was the team’s leading scorer and seventh nationally with 16 TDs

for 96 points. He scored 15 of those 16 touchdowns over season’s final eight games and was especially strong in Colgate’s thrilling playoff run. He posted a team leading seven TDs in Colgate’s three playoff games and accumulated 295 of his 732 rushing yards.

• Abu Daramy-Swaray is ready for his encore campaign af-ter earning 2016 Patriot League Rookie of the Year and

Hero Sports Freshman All-America honors. Daramy-Swaray returned 26 punts for a 7.3-yard average that ranked fourth in the Patriot League, and added 26 kickoff returns for a 21.4-yard clip that ranked seventh. Daramy-Swaray finished fourth on the team with 746 all-purpose yards.

• Head coach Dan Hunt owns a 13-5 Patriot League record for his first three seasons leading the Raiders, including a

perfect 6-0 mark and conference championship in 2015. The Raiders that season won twice in the NCAA playoffs on the road and reached the quarterfinal round for the second time in program history (2003 national runnerup). Hunt’s overall coaching record is 19-17. He spent 19 years as a Raiders assistant coach before succeeding Dick Biddle as head coach after the 2013 campaign.

• Stan Dakosty was promoted during the off-season to Associate Head Coach. Dakosty

is entering his 11th season on the Colgate coaching staff and his eighth season oversee-ing the Raider secondary. He also serves as the football recruiting coordinator.

• Coaching additions to the staff this year are Ben Olson as the new outside lineback-

ers assistant and Aaron Foster as video coor-dinator and safeties assistant. Greg Sullivan moved from video coordinator to the running backs assistant coach.

• Colgate captains for 2017 are Pat Afriyie and Alec Wisniewski on defense, and Ryan

Paulish and Max Hartzman on offense.
