Tekcnoplast is a ten year old firm specialising in the manufacturing of high-quality plastic products for the construction, road management, nautical and garden furnishing markets.

Based in the industrial area of Matera - famous worldwide for its excellence in the upholstery furniture production - the firm keeps abreast of the times by means of ongoing market researches into advanced production technologies and material sourcing.

Production is by means of rotational moulding: a technique used to manufacture hollow body products whereby a mould bi-axially rotates (there is a fixed direction primary axis and a secondary axis with a variable direction) which guarantees excellent product resistance as products are without any kind of welding or internal tensions.

La città di Matera rappresenta una pagina straordinaria scritta dall’uo-mo nello scorrere dei secoli. Il suo territorio custodisce i tratti degli insediamenti che dal paleolitico sono arrivati sino ai giorni nostri senza mai arrestarsi. Il primo nucleo urbano, che nasce nelle grotte rurali scavate nelle rocce e trasformate in strutture sempre più complesse, trova origine nei ben noti Sassi, dichiarati dall’UNESCO Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità.

Il 17 ottobre 2014 Matera è stata eletta Capitale Europea della Cultu-ra 2019 ed è proprio con questo titolo che prende il via un percorso di innovazione culturale, di crescita economica e di recupero sostenibile che vedrà Matera, realtà conosciuta in tutto il mondo, diventare uno dei principali poli culturali e industriali del panorama europeo. The city of Matera is an extraordinary page written by man over the centuries.

Its territory preserves the settlements dating back to the Paleolithic age to the present day. The first rural group arose from caves being dug into the rural rocks, with settlements becoming increasingly more complex structures, originating in what we know today as the “Sassi” - a declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On the 17th October 2014 the city of Matera was declared the European Capital of Culture for 2019. This is the beginning of a path of cultural innovation, economic growth and sustainable recovery, thanks to which, Matera, a reality now known all over the world, will become one of the main cultural and industrial landscapes on the European scene. Tekcnoplast has always worked in this territory, as a perfect fusion between past and future, blending in its products the culture of the origins with the passion for innovation.

LA TECNICA DELLO STAMPAGGIO ROTAZIONALE

ROTATIONAL MOLDING TECHNIQUE

Lo stampaggio rotazionale è un processo tecnologico che permette di produrre corpi cavi in un solo pezzo senza necessità di saldature. Questa tecnologia permette di ottenere pezzi privi di tensioni interne e con spessore uniforme. Possono essere stampati articoli di grosse dimensioni con contorni molto complicati, anche con differenti finiture superficiali (finta pelle, goffrature etc.) e con diversi tipi di inserti costampati.

La continua ricerca di nuovi materiali e tecnologie per lo stampaggio amplia ogni anno la gamma di polimeri che possono essere efficacemente utilizzati nel processo rotazionale. At-tualmente la maggior parte della produzione viene effettuata con polietilene lineare di prima scelta selezionato tra i migliori produttori leader mondiali.

La particolarità di questa tecnologia sta nel fatto che lo stampo ruota secondo due assi: uno primario, a direzione fissa, ed uno secondario, a direzione variabile. Durante tutte le fasi (escluso carico-scarico) lo stampo ruota sempre, ma mai velocemente. Grazie ai due movi-menti il polimero investe tutte le superfici interne dello stampo, le quali una volta scaldate in forno, fondono il polimero che vi aderisce sopra ricoprendole. Così facendo, strato dopo strato viene fuso tutto il polimero originando il pezzo finito. Essendo lenta la rotazione, il poli-mero non ricopre lo stampo grazie alla forza centrifuga generata dalla rotazione, ma soltanto perché viene fuso quando entra in contatto con le pareti.

VANTAGGI• Corpo cavo realizzato in un unico pezzo senza linee di saldatura o giunzioni.• Pezzo essenzialmente libero da tensioni.• Tempi di fabbricazione degli stampi relativamente brevi.• Discreta uniformità di spessore delle pareti (rispetto ad altri metodi di stampaggio “free

surface”, come il soffiaggio).• Possibilità di variare la distribuzione dello spessore delle pareti senza necessità di modifi-

care lo stampo.• Fattibilità economica della produzione di tirature ridotte.• Assenza di sfrido in quanto l’intera carica di materiale viene normalmente consumata per

produrre il pezzo.• Possibilità di fabbricare pezzi multi-strato, inclusi pezzi in plastica espansa.• Possibilità di stampare contemporaneamente su una stessa macchina prodotti di tipo

differente.• Relativa facilità di co-stampare inserti all’interno del pezzo.• Possibilità di co-stampare grafica di alta qualità sul pezzo stampato.

Rotational moulding is a technological process that allows the production of hollow bodies in one piece without any welding. This technology allows the manufacture of pieces uniform in thickness and without any internal strains. Large dimension and complex profile items can be moulded with several finishes -synthetic leather, embossing, etc. Co-moulded inserts could be also added.

Continuous search for new moulding materials and technologies enlarge every year the range of polymers efficiently used in the rotational process. Today, most of production is made of linear top quality polyethylene. It is selected and supplied by only the best firms highly-qualified in raw materials provision.

The distinguishing feature of rotational moulding technology is the mould rotation around two perpendicular axes, a fixed direction primary axis and a secondary axis with variable direction. Throughout the process (excluding the loading and unloading phases) the mould slowly and ceaselessly continues to rotate. The mould rotation around two axes causes the softened polymer to disperse and stick to the internal walls of the mould. The finished piece is formed by

depositing alternating layers of polymer fully melt. Due to the slow rotational speed, the polymer doesn’t stick because of the rotating centrifugal force but being coalesced and adhering to the mould wall.
