rectangular boxes that i could place my logo in and my information.

created by blowing up my image to a larger size and changing the opacity to 5%.

    logosDesCription:

Three new logos created for a new company.

    Date:November 2, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Adobe Illustrator

objeCtives:Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image (at least 3 new

    logos).

Do not imitate existing logos or use your previous designs.

Use only the tools of Illustrator. (No photos on logo page)

Setting up a professional display for the company. Arrange three logos on an 8.5

x 11 vertical page / .5 margins and add the company name in simple type at thetop of page.

Getting feedback from outside sources. Ask ten people to select their favorite

logo. List the results, along with your favorite, in your blog post.

proCess:For this project I used Publisher to create three new logos. Most of the images

were pretty simple to create. I used the shape tools to create most of the image

for the logos. Along with the logos that I created I used different fonts with eachone of the logos so that the company could be identified.

    montageDesCription:

A montage created using Adobe Photoshop.

    Date:October 25, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Adobe Photoshop

    objeCtives:Learn to manage Photoshop layers.

Learn to blend images together smoothly, using masks. (Two or more images)

Use filters. (Apply at least one)

    Apply appropriate typography.

Choosing good quality images. (Note background should be at least1650x1275 pixels)

Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scriptures, your choice)

Unifying a piece with a consistent theme.

proCess:For this project I used 5 images that I found online and used the mask tool

in photoshop along with the brush to create one montage with images that

were gradually blended. To create the gradual blend you first have to place a

mask on the image that you wish to blend. After you place the mask on theimage you use the brush tool and change the opacity from 100 to 40 to 20

throughout the process of the blend. It is important when doing a gradual blend

on a persons face that you do not remove too much of the image or it looks

bad. After the gradual blending of each image, I added some text to the image

using the text box tool. Lastly on the background image I used the blurred

Photoshopped version of an original photograph.

    Date:October 19, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Adobe Photoshop

    objeCtives:Learn basic photography skills.

Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.

Size and crop the image. 6x6 resolution 150

Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels.

Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image.

Desaturate the selected portion of the image.Use a filter or colorize a portion of the image.

Document needs to be 8.5x11 150 resolution. Margins: top 2, sides 1.25 and

    bottom 3

proCess:I went out and took a picture with my Nikon Coolpix camera, and uploaded the

photo into photoshop. I used Photoshop to edit the size of the image to a 66

photo, and then removed the color from the background and changed the hue ofthe flower in the foreground.

    broCHure

DesCription:A brochure that I created using Indesign to promote Fort Worth, Texas.

    Date:December 7, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Adobe InDesign

objeCtives:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.

Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure.

Incorporate quality images. (Incorporate at least four quality images (Not

including the logo). One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in

InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.)Write at least 250 words of original copy with at least three paragraphs.

Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.

proCess:For this brochure I used Indesign mainly to create an outline. Once I had set my

brochure up, I was able to take body copy that I had previously written a week

before, and place that text in the document. From that point I was able to go on

the internet and select photos that helped show visual depictions of some of

the things that I spoke about in the text. Some of those images were then taken

into Photoshop and cropped using the lasso tool, so that I could import those

images into my brochure and use text wrap.

    Web page

DesCription:A website created using HTML and CSS to share a personally created logo.

    Date:November 20, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Text Wrangler & InDesign

objeCtives:Optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page.

Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to

    a target audience.

Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content.

Identify hex colors for web design.

Compress multiple files in a zipped folder to attach as one file.

Open your HTML page in a web browser, take a screen shot, and place the .png

on a 8.5 x 11 page and print in color.

proCess:The webpage was created using the TextWrangler application, along with HTML

and CSS codes. I was able to start by writing the HTML code using knowledge

that I had gained by completing HTML activities in class. Once the HTMl waswritten, I was able to insert body copy that described the process of creating my

companies logos. When you are creating a webpage if you only use HTML, the

page will be very plain and boring. In order to make the page more aesthetically

pleasing we can utilize CSS codes that will modify the overall artistic layout of

the webpage. We were given a CSS code that was already written out, but I was

able to go in and change the existing colors, texts, and layout to create a whole

    new product.

    flier

DesCription:A black and white flier used to promote a graduate conference.

    Date:October 4, 2013

    Course instruCtor:Julie Peterson

    program/tools:Adobe InDesign

objeCtives:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.

Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep linksintact.

proCess:I started by planning out what I wanted my flier to look like on paper. The Flier

was created in Adobe In Design. I created a draft, and my peers looked over and

critiqued the preliminary flier. I then went in and adjusted the flier to create better

flow, and moved around some of the pictures to create better alignment. The

contrast that is seen in the flier mainly comes from the black and white aspect of

the flier. The title of the flier has a white to black gradient that contrasts well withthe black heading text. Some more contrast can be seen when comparing the

    body copy and the headlines.
