MACCABI WORLD UNION IS MOST PROMINENTLY

KNOWN FOR HOSTING THE MACCABIAH (A.K.A. JEWISHOLYMPICS) IN ISRAEL EVERY FOUR YEARS. THE

MACCABIAH IS THE LARGEST JEWISH EVENT IN THE

WORLD, THE LARGEST TOURIST EVENT IN ISRAEL, ANDTHE THIRD LARGEST GLOBAL SPORTING EVENT.

Established in 1895, Maccabi World Union is the

largest and most influential Jewish s ports movement

in the world, comprised of over 450,000 members

spread across 68 countries and 6 continents.

Maccabis goal is to foster Jewish identity and create

    Israel-related educational opportunities through

sports. Some of Maccabis many activities include

educational tours of Israel, sports rehabilitation for

victims of terror, holiday food parcel programs for

    Israels poorest families, supporting underprivileged

and immigrant Israeli children, Jewish programming

for distressed communities worldwide, and a special

intensive Israel experience working with physically

and developmentally disabled Jewish youth known

    as the Maccabi Challenge.

Maccabi World Union is most prominently known for

hosting the Maccabiah (a.k.a. Jewish Olympics) in

Israel every four years. The Maccabiah is the largest

Jewish event in the world, the largest tourist event

in Israel, and the third largest global sporting event.

The 18th Maccabiah, which took place in July 2009,

brought 8,000 Jewish athletes and 20,000 tourists

to Israel from 60 countries, %90-80 of whom had

never been to Israel before. The Games pump

nearly 100$M into the Israeli economy and foster

lifelong connections between Diaspora Jewry and

the Jewish State. The 19th Maccabiah will take place

in July 2013, where the number of participants is

expected to rise to over 10,000 people (similar to the

    Olympics which has 10,500 participants).

In the U.S, Maccabi World Union operates Young

Leadership Committees (YLCs) in Los Angeles,

NY and Miami. The purpose of the YLCs is to raise

funds for and increase the visibility of Maccabis

global initiatives. Maccabis YLCs consist of highly

    motivated and exceptionally talented young

professionals. 2 YLCs also exist in Tel Aviv. YLC

members possess a deep passion for Israel and for

the mission of the Maccabi movement. In addition to

the YLCs, Maccabi World Union partners with local

Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) to run annual

JCC Maccabi youth sports games in their respective

    North American regions.

Maccabi World Union and ZBT share a commonhistory, founding principles, and mission, making the

organizations natural partners. Both began as Zionist

clubs dedicated to a mission of social justice, unity

and fellowship. ZBTs Circle of Brotherhood, which

includes Alumni, Service, Education, Athletics Social,

and Bonding, directly parallels Maccabis mission

and programs in Israel and throughout the World.

Maccabis flagship event, the Maccabiah, epitomizes

the values of athletics, good sportsmanship, social

interaction and bonding. Over Rosh Hashanah and

Passover, volunteers come together to support

needy families by assembling food parcels, bringing

dignity to holiday tables throughout the country. The

Maccabi Tzair Youth Movement and its young adults

often volunteer an extra year of service before thearmy to establish and operate cooperative units and

help educate immigrant children, keeping high-risk

youth off the streets and in school. Maccabi YLCs

and the Maccabi Business Forum, a new programconsisting of 500 top young successful business

leaders, provide great networking opportunities for

    Maccabis Alumni and partners.

With its vast global network, Maccabi brings the

joint Maccabi-ZBT partnership extensive access to

Maccabis worldwide network of young successful

potential fraternity recruits, and to a world of Tkkun

Olam initiatives in needy communities worldwide.

Additionally, with over 5,000 teenagers participating

in the JCC Maccabi North American Youth games

annually, (the largest Jewish youth event in North

America) ZBT has the benefit of spreading awareness

of its activities to North American teens as they

prepare for college. The Maccabi-ZBT partnership

will allow ZBT to make an impact, while openingnew doors for its chapters, brothers, future brother

    and alumni.

MACCABI WORLD UNION AND ZBT SHARE A COMMON HISTORY,FOUNDING PRINCIPLES, AND MISSION, MAKING THE ORGANIZATIONS

NATURAL PARTNERS. BOTH BEGAN AS ZIONIST CLUBS DEDICATED TOA MISSION OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, UNITY AND FELLOWSHIP.

In summer 2011, Maccabi World Union, in partnershipwith the JCC, will host the first Maccabi JCC

Games in Israel. Over 1,000 North American Jewish

teens between the ages of 17-14 are expected to

participate. Additionally, a delegation consisting of

300-150 Israeli teens will also attend. All participants,

with varying backgrounds and experience, will be

exposed to their heritage, traditions and history.

Maccabis mission for the Games is to foster Jewish

identity and sportsmanship, and to provide a once-

in-a-lifetime Israel experience that is both exciting

    and meaningful.

Maccabi is proud to offer ZBT members the

opportunity to earn a full expense-paid trip to our

inaugural games. As a part of the Maccabi-ZBT

partnership, Maccabi is offering an expense paid trip(flight, hotel, excursions, games) to 1 ZBT member

for each 7,000$ raised by their chapter!

Each 7,000$ raised will also enable Maccabi to

do a good deed and subsidize the participationof five gifted athletes from socio-economically

disadvantaged communities around the world in the

JCC Maccabi Israel Games. The gift of sponsorship

is life changing for recipients, as the experience is

very often the first and most powerful introduction

to Jewish culture that these young participants

experience. Chapters are encouraged to raise as

much as much as possible in order to fund as many

brothers as possible for a life changing Israel and

recreational experience! Be a part of history in the

    makingon us!!!

Here are some great ways to earn your trip!
