COMET GROUP HIGHLIGHTS
Family group
Mainly active in Belgiumand France
2 shredding sites :
Chatelet Mons
8 PST plants for the recovery of secondary raw
material out of both shredder light and heavy
fractions
380 workers
R&D team :15 persons
The COMET Group was born from a Belgian industrial company, family-owned, active in the sector of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their derivatives.
✓1.200.000 tons processed per year✓97,8% recycling rate

METALIC WASTE RECYCLING : SHREDDING
END-OF-LIFE VEHICLES
✓ Over 98% recycling via our subsidiary
RECYCAR
✓ RECYCAR was the first approved
centre in Wallonia for internal
combustion engine vehicles and then
also the first for hybrid and electric
vehicles.
✓ Meticulous depollution: fluids (oil, fuel,
coolant, brake fluid) batteries, oil filters,
etc.
✓ The vehicles then head for our
shredders: the engines in Châtelet and
the carcass in Obourg.
W.E.E.E. (WASTE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTS)
✓ We process 3 types of WEEE:
✓ White household appliances: washing
machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers, boilers...
✓ Small household appliances (Pam):
microwaves, computers, toasters, irons, etc.
✓ Refrigerating equipment: fridge, freezer, etc.
✓ Specific manual treatment before shredding:
dismantling of dangerous components
(capacitors, mercury bulbs, neon tubes, batteries,
print cartridges, elements containing asbestos, etc.)
and components with a high content value
(printed circuits, processors, computer hard drives,
coolers, etc.).
✓ In the specific case of refrigerators, gases and
fluids are rigorously collected with a view to their
decontamination.
✓ 15,000 tonnes / year of small and large householdappliances, fridges and more recently solar panels.
✓ Dismantling in our COMET Services workshops (social andprofessional integration).
✓ Our tools enable us to achieve unparalleled
production performance thanks to our 7,000 HP
shredder at our Obourg site and a 3,000 HP
shredder specifically for shredding thermal
engines and WEEE at our Châtelet site.
✓ The shredder in Mons (Obourg) is the most
powerful in the European Union. Its capacity is
close to 300 car bodies/hour.

Recognized in the Qualiroutes
MINERAL FRACTION TO RECYCLED SAND
MINERAL FRACTION TO RECYCLED SAND
• Physico-chemical properties superior to natural marine
sand that improve the strength of bituminous asphalt
• An environmental gain, by reducing the pressure exerted on
a scarce natural resource
• A contribution to the challenges of mobility and reduction
of CO2 emissions related to transport, given the local
circularity solution.
