Issue 13 19 September 2019
Term 3 has flown by. Although teachers used to think of it as the less hectic term it has proven not to be true this year at Plenty Valley. Staff returned from the International Transforming Education Conference and other professional development ready to do great things with their students. Year 10 students thought long and hard about what career they would like to pursue and investigated how they could reach their goals. Year 9s commuted into the city each day to gather information and critique the world’s second most liveable city. Secondary Production where the cast and crew were hard at work all term rehearsing and performing. Year 8s left their parents to head off to camp. Year 5s went off to freezing Sovereign Hill for a day excursion. Preps cele-brated 100 days. The Primary Senior Choir went to the Royal South Street Eisteddfod. The Heart of the Valley where students and staff shared their creativity. And the list goes on and on ... Needless to say, Plenty Valley Christian College provides many opportunities for our students. Not only a quality education with staff who pray for and care for their students, but we aim to assist in offering many opportunities to grow students’ positive character. The Education Support Centre refurbishment is now complete, and our Ed Support team has been moving into their new space this week. Two weeks earlier the Executive also moved into their refurbished office space creating a more central meeting room and allowing our Registrar to be more accessible for new families. Next term, work begins on our new Year 7 rooms which were once the old Prep classrooms. This will create a special place for the Year 7s next year; close to their old Primary area but still very much a part of Secondary. As the Strategic Plan is readied for publication next term thoughts are turning to the facilities and resources we will need to support that plan. A Master Plan will provide an outline of the timeline and facilities that we will need in the next 10 years. This will allow us to plan our finances to match. Expect to see the Secondary section of the College featuring fairly heavily in our next round of refurbishment and construction, as much work has already been done in the Primary to create space for Secondary.

ENROLMENT We are currently in the process of determining our whole school class lists and structure for 2020. While most of our students continue on at PVCC, we recognise that you know your child’s educational and care needs better than anyone and that, occasionally, a different school meets some student’s aspirations.
With this in mind, please be aware that in accordance with the PVCC enrolment terms and conditions, one term’s notice must be given in writing to the College Registrar if your child is withdrawing from the College. If one term’s notice is not received in writing, the College requires one term’s fee to be paid in lieu of this notice.
If you have made plans for your child to continue with their education elsewhere in 2020, can you please email [email protected] no later than Friday October 4th 2019.

UNIFORM CHANGE-OVER
Summer uniform period is Terms 1 and 4.
There will be a three-week overlapping
period for wearing summer and winter
uniform depending on the weather, at
the student's discretion. This will only be
at the beginning of Terms 2 and 4.
In Terms 1 & 4 the wearing of the College sun hat is compulsory when undertaking lessons outdoors in
direct sunlight, including specified Physical Education classes or sport events. Primary students must also
wear the hat while outdoors during recess and lunchtimes. Click here to read the full Uniform Policy.
Recently I have had the joy of interviewing students for the position of the Senior College Captains for 2020. Although wedged into a very busy day it was so encouraging to see so many worthy applicants. Solid young men and women with a heart to serve the community and their God. I am not exaggerating when I say that any of them would have brought credit to their community in a leadership position. Unfortunately, we cannot choose everyone. There is some disappointment. When plans don’t go the way we expect it is hard to believe God actually has a plan, but He does. It appears He enjoys turning disap-pointment to joy, lost direction into something strong, productive and rewarding. We have seen this so often in the past.
Jeremiah 29:10-11 This is God’s Word on the subject: “… I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:10-11 (The Message)
The successful applicants will be announced at the end of term assembly tomorrow. Please pray for our new Captains, Senate, and Christian Ministry Team as they seek to serve our community. Also thank God for the excellent leadership we have enjoyed from the 2019 student leaders.
