What is Staron®?Staron® Solid Surfaces created by technology leader, Samsung is a 100% acrylic benchtop and surface solution suitable for endless applications in a commercial or residential project. With a seamless finish and a range of over 80 colours to select from, Staron® is not only aesthetically but functionally pleasing. Non-porous in nature, no stain can penetrate into the material - providing a durable benchtop that is easy to maintain.

Staron® is totally seamless. Joined with a special Staron® adhesive – it creates long and wide continuing surfaces with no open or visible joins.

With a selection of four single and three double kitchen sinks – a seamless and totally integrated kitchen benchtop space can be created. No dirt trapping joins or crevices to clean, just one continuous surface that looks and acts like one piece.

Staron® is renewable, meaning that after years of use it can be sanded to be restored back to its original condition. Staron® can be formed and moulded into any shape or design imaginable. It can be curved to fit around curves, or be sculpted into logos, designs or fig-ures.

Staron® can be inlaid, creating a blend of colours into one piece.

The flexibility of Staron® extends to limitless edge profiles; drop down edges, and splash backs. All this comes in an environmentally friendly material, with the sound of mind of a 10 Year Warranty.

Food ServiceThe durable renewable nature of Staron® makes it the perfect surface solution for the food service industry. Staron® meets NSF - 51 National Sanitation Accreditatin for safe food hygiene which means it is safe for commercial kitchens and will not support the growth of bacteria when exposed to food. Use Staron® to create long and wrapping counters, serving areas, food hall tables, wall cladding, preparation areas and more.

RetailThe demanding and high traffic environment of a retail fit-out needs a surface that is durable, hard wearing, renewable and non-porous. Staron® meets all the criterias to create a project that will look like the day it was installed for years to come. Seamlees joins make cleaning easy with no dirt trapping crevices. Healthcare & Aged CareHealing begins with the patients environment. Staron® offers a warm, soft and soothing feel to the skin. It does not possess a ‘cold’ feel that many other surfaces have. Staron® also offers a hygienic finish that abolishes cross contamination perfect for hospitals or aged care facilities. It also prevents the growth of mould or mildew. Bathrooms

EnvironmentalSamsung has focused on the importance of environmental awareness by contributing to sustainable design through Staron®. Staron® is environmentally sound as it can be reused, meaning the product can be taken from one application and recreated into a new project. This extends the lifespan of Staron® creating less need for waste.

The renewable and repairable nature of Staron® also means that it will last longer and reduces the need of replacement. Staron® is non-toxic creating an environment that is healthy for people, animals and the environment. These attributes have been recognised by Eco Specifier, awarding Staron® with an approved listing. Staron® Solid Surfaces also con-tribute to sustainable design through the Encore Collection and GREENGUARD certification.

The Staron® Encore CollectionIntroducting the Staron® Solid Surfaces ‘Encore Collection’. The Encore Collection has been created with a selection of two Staron® colours certified to contain pre-consumer recycled content. Staron® Aspen Mine and Aspen Snow contain a minimum 10% pre-consumer recycled resin and chip content.

The certification, issued by Scientific Certification Systems, a leader in certifying independ-ent environmental claims, recognises Staron® for the use of recycled material. The SCS Material Content Certification verifies that Samsung is working responsibly to minimise en-vironmental impact during the manufacturing process. Using recycled content helps con-serve energy and resources, alleviates pressure on landfill space and reduces the need for transportation during certain phases of a product’s life cycle. Staron® Solid Surface has been granted GREENGUARD certification by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute for its Staron® Solid Surface material, including the new Staron® Tempest range, and Staron® sinks and bowls.

Each of the product lines has passed the requirements of two GREENGUARD certification programs. GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® product certification is granted for low-emitting interior building materials, furnishings and finish systems. The more stringent GREENGUARD for Children & Schools certification is granted for low-emitting interior build-ing materials, furnishings and finish systems used in educational (daycare and K-12) envi-ronments.

The GREENGUARD certification provides architects and designers an alternative to less healthful finish materials; particularly where casework and worktop materials are con-cerned. A healthcare facility, for example, could include Staron® benchtops paired with solid surface bowls, and the combination of products will contribute toward lowering the potential for unhealthful air quality in a public space.

The successful two-month certification process included a 168-hour period during which the Staron® products were tested for potential off-gassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as formaldehyde.
