InsulatIon BlanKets

Do not obstruct water heater air intakewith insulating blanket.Gas and carbon monoxide detectorsare available.Install water heater in accordance withthe instruction manual.

Breathing carbon monoxide can cause brain damage ordeath. Always read and understand instruction manual.

Breathing Hazard - Carbon Monoxide Gas

Insulation blankets are available to the general public forexternal use on gas water heaters but are not necessarywith these products. The purpose of an insulation blanket isto reduce the standby heat loss encountered with storagetankheaters.Thewaterheaterscoveredbythismanualmeetor exceed the Energy Policy Act standards with respect toinsulation and standby heat loss requirements, making aninsulationblanketunnecessary.

Should you choose to apply an insulation blanket to thisheater, youshouldfollowtheseinstructions.SeetheFeaturesand Components section of this manual for identificationof components mentioned below. Failure to follow theseinstructions can restrict the air flow required for propercombustion, potentially resulting in fire, asphyxiation, seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.

Children, the elderly and the physically or mentally disabled are at highest risk for scald injury.
