It also signals the end of another boating season. This has been a pleasant year weather wise with no major storms to cause us damage. Hopefully you have enjoyed your boat and made time to be out and enjoy all that Hoover has to offer. We want to thank the Paschen’s, Wright’s, Geswein’s and Stehura’s for giving us such a great party with the Pig Roast. While it was rather hot during the day, it was a great point in Dick’s planning to have a storm come and cool things off prior to eating. Always a terrific event and always greatly enjoyed by all in attendance. Thank you all for making it so again. Thank you to Tony Vannelle and all members who participated in the Hoover Clean-Up. While we haven’t learned the exact amount of trash collected we know that the City appreciated the BBC commitment to keeping Hoover beautiful. We’re looking forward to the remaining social events of the year. The Memorial Breakfast (Steve Holtzapfel- Chair); Harvest Party (Cathy Kerlee Chair) and the Holiday Party (Karen & Reinhard Gellner Chair). These are always excellent events and we’d like to think that folks will get their reservations in e arly to allow the Chairpersons sufficient time to prepare. Chairing the social events is not easy, so why should we make it more difficult? We want to also remind everyone that making sure your Work Hours are being recorded correctly is YOURresponsibility. Please check and make sure you have been given credit correctly now as once invoices go out, it’s too late. corrections. We have a Work Day coming up on Saturday, November 5 th. Club House Cleaning date has been changed and will also be on Saturday, November 5th and we’ll need members to come out, and if you need hours these will be opportunities to get them. While reservoir levels are still above average, we seem to be in a bit of a drought. The significance of this is that while we are hopefully that we have until the end of October, it’s possible that we might have an early “take-out” of boats. We’re keeping an eye on the dropping water levels. Of course we’ll alert everyone if it seems we need to act early. In the meantime however, it would be helpful that if you are not planning on using your boat in October, let’s get it out starting Saturday, October 1st. This would lessen congestion in the event that boats need to come out early. We’ll have volunteers available every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. to assist in parking your boat. They will be there only as long as boats are at the ramp waiting to be removed. If you are using blocks to store your boat please make sure they are aboard. If you have a trailer please tell the tractor driver beforehand so we can make the most efficient use of everyone’s time. If you are selling your boat or know that your boat will need to go off the property for repairs, tell the tractor driver ahead of time so your boat can be placed for easy access. It’s a good idea to make sure you have sufficient fuel aboard in the event of a long line of boats to come out. Also it’s a good idea to come a bit early to make sure your boat starts or determine that you’ll need a tow. We generally have someone available to tow early and not necessarily later in the morning. It’s also important that you do NOT park in the grass areas where we store boats. Use the parking lot down by the lake front docks. When cleaning your boat for winter storage please put all used cleaning materials in the dumpster and not in clubhouse trash cans. As of this writing we have 5 members’ boats for sale. All of them have indicated they will be surrendering their docks upon sale of their boat, which means anyone buying one of these will be able to join the club if they so desire. Maybe you know someone who would like to be a part of the BBC. Now is the time to share the information which is on the web site and also in the “For Sale” book in club house. While we may be taking boats off the water, as you can see from the above we’ll have many opportunities to get together. We’ll look forward to seeing you.

Before we know it the boating season will be over and with the end of the season comes one of the last opportunities to pick up work hours. Clubhouse Cleaning has been rescheduled from 12/3 at 8:30 AM to 11/5 at 8:30 AM. Yes, cleaning day is on the same day as the outside Work Day. It will be just one big fun get together! (I didn’t think anyone wanted the job of scraping the ice off the clubhouse windows in December). Now you have only one day to remember November 5th at 8:30 AM.

The next item goes in the reminder column. Clubhouse rentals usually go pretty fast around the holidays. If you want to be sure you get the date you want get your paperwork in early.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

(You forgot that date already didn’t you)
