• Recruit participants in your community tostart their own teams

• Host a warm up or kick off event andencourage local teams to attend

learned and ask for guidance/support fromJeremiah, Ashley or other ambassadors on theCommunity Ambassador Facebook page)

COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR INFORMATION PACKET3

As a community ambassador, your primary mission is to encourage others in your local community to register for Run Ranger Run. How you go about it is entirely up to you. Here are a few ideas to help get you started:

Once you receive your RRR shirt in the mail, wear it with pride! Whether you are working out or just running errands, your shirt is a great marketing tool. Show it off and use it as a conversation starter. Ask if people have heard of Run Ranger Run and direct them to the website to register.

Don’t forget to tell people your name. Registrants will be asked how they heard about RRR during the sign-up process (when registrants enter your name - we’ll hear about it and can provide you feedback on your efforts.)

Running clubs, gyms, and community groups are a great place to recruit new participants. Do you have people you know who are avid runners? Do you know of people who want to commit to a New Year’s Resolution? Do you have a group that supports the military or veterans? Any of those groups are great for sharing information about Run Ranger Run and encouraging participation. What about local ROTC or JROTC groups?

Is someone unsure about participating because they don’t think they can fill a team? No problem! Not every member of a team has to be a marathon runner. They just have to do their part. Run Ranger Run is typically a team event and that means everyone comes together to do what they personally can to contribute miles at any skill level.

Many teams have team members that live in multiple states, so if someone wants to join but doesn’t know enough people locally, encourage them to recruit members from different states. There is also the option to register as a “Lone Wolf” if someone wants to participate, but doesn’t want to be on a team.

Think outside the box. Run Ranger Run can be for everyone. Some people will want to participate because they feel a personal connection to GallantFew’s mission or to the story of Cory Smith’s personal journey that began Run Ranger Run. Some may have a fitness goal they want to reach or they may just be starting on a new fitness journey. People of all walks of life and fitness levels have participated in Run Ranger Run and all are welcome. Reach out, spread the word and look to resources outside the box to share the movement and help encourage participation!

COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR INFORMATION PACKET5

Join the Run Ranger Run Community Group on Facebook to spread the word about promotions as well as other teams and participants. Share updates on your personal social media channels, and you can also share information from

GallantFew’s social media pages. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #RunRangerRun and #RRR2020.

Do you belong to a gym, running club, community or other group? Ask if you can share a Run Ranger Run flyer, postcard or poster at their facility or on their website. Always direct them to www.

runrangerrun.com for more information about Run Ranger Run, registration and updates. Reach out to Jeremiah, Ashley, or Bryce to request marketing materials.

Hold an Event. One of the best ways to help spread the word about Run Ranger Run and to encourage people to register is to host a warmup or kick off event. These events can be as big or as small

as you would like them to be. Do you want to help get people excited about Run Ranger Run prior to the official kick off weekend (last weekend in January)? Host a warm up event! You can use this time to increase awareness of Run Ranger Run and GallantFew’s mission, encourage participation, gather donations and get people registered. Want to get fellow Run Ranger Run participants in your local area together to log some miles? Host a kick off event! See the example events on the next page or contact Jessica Stith at [email protected] for more information or to schedule your event.

Ask the establishment to donate or contribute the evening’s proceeds to GallantFew. You can set up a table with information and registration. This can be the starting point for group runs/walks throughout the month.

Why should I participate in Run Ranger Run Kids Club?By participating in Run Ranger Run Kid’s Club, you will make a difference in the lives of veterans. Progress is being made due to dedicated individuals like yourself. We need to continue our momentum in helping veterans who continue to battle unemployment, underemployment, homelessness and suicide. We believe that in order to implement sustained growth in this area we must encourage and empower our youth to become informed and involved citizens.

Run Ranger Run is for all ages! If your children want to participate in Run Ranger Run, then we’d love them to participate. Here are a few ways:

COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR INFORMATION PACKET8

1. Local Business Sponsorship. Ask local businesses to sponsor you or your team and encourage others to do the same.

2. Individual Sponsorships from family and friends are the simplest ways you can get donations. We have added a sample solicitation letter on our website for you to use.

3. Encourage people to pledge per mile. $1or $2 per mile adds up very quickly. We have a sample pledge sheet you can download on our website.

4. Social Event. Host a social event, in your hometown, for Run Ranger Run and apply the proceeds to your fundraiser.

National chain restaurants (i.e. Chili’s, Applebee’s) often have charity nights. GallantFew is happy to work with you to complete the necessary paperwork to host “dining in” fundraisers in your area.

Happy hour at some of your local establishments. Volunteers have hosted and raised significant funds simply from coordinating a charity happy hour at a favorite pub or establishment.

5. Matching Donations. Ask your team members or those you recruit if their companies offer matching donations. If so you can include those in your fundraising. Everyone making a donation will have the option to search and see if his/her employer offers matching gifts.

GallantFew currently is set up to receive matching gifts from these companies:

• Textron• Apple• Microsoft• BP• Bank of America• CA Technologies• Dell
