Community options

Bus Bingo - $5.00 per sessionParticipants travel to iconic Melbourne destinations identifying objects, landmarks, sculptures, buildings and traffic signs, while playing a fun game of BINGO!

Day Trip - $12.00 per sessionA whole day outing in a vehicle to a variety of destinations with time to explore at each destination and to visit destinations across the Melbourne region.Destinations are planned by the group but may include visiting The Briars on the Morning Peninsula, The Yarra Valley, and The Bellarine Peninsula. Lunch is not included but may be purchased if participants bring their own money or they can bring a picnic lunch to have out and about. Entrance to venues & destinations & lunch or morning tea maybe included or an additional cost may be advised reflective of the schedule.

Drive Club - $5.00 per sessionParticipants are driven to different parts of Melbourne to explore; a leisurely drive to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Cafe Culture - $5.50 per sessionParticipants alternate between visiting different cafes in the community and buying a refreshment, learning about different menus and service skills and practicing making a variety of menu items on site. This program is to develop confidence in making a variety of drinks & food with kitchen machinery, and the ability to take orders and serve others. The end of each Semester the group will run their own Café and invite family and friends to practice their new skills and confidence.

Drive and Discover - $5.00 per sessionParticipants enjoy a short drive and then stopping to visit galleries, museums, National Trust gardens and other places of significance as chosen by the participants.

Library - FREEThe aim of the Library program is to show how a library functions. Participants, will be encouraged to have their own library card will have the opportunity to borrow books, magazines, movies and music. Participants will need to pay for their own printing from the library computers and any lost property of the library.

Horticulture - $4.00 per sessionOur Horticulture program visits either our plot at Alamein Neighbourhood Centre, enjoying light gardening duties and attending to the gardens at Bowen Street Centre, the May Armstrong Centre & Fisher Street Centre. Vegetables and fruit will be used in cooking programs or sent home with participants.

Leisure Options - $6.00 per sessionAll outings for the Leisure Options program are chosen by the group and are accessed via public transport. Participants must be able to travel with a group, and want to learn about different ways of getting around on public transport. This is a full day program. Participants visit National Trust buildings, galleries and discover Melbourne.

Fishing - $4.00 per sessionThe morning Fishing group travels to different locations to catch the fish that “always gets away”. Participants are supported to learn to fish and relax while waiting for the fish to bite.

Movie Buffs - $2.00 per sessionOur Movie Buffs program is for participants who love the classics, and is held at Kingston Arts Centre, Moorabbin every Wednesday morning.

Social Club - $5.50 per sessionAs part of the Social Club a group of participants visits cafes in the area to practice ordering, money handling, social skills and communication.

Travel Time - $5.00 per sessionOur community-based Time Travel program provides opportunities for participants to travel on trains and trams. Destinations are chosen by the group who enjoy the experience of being on public transport..

Tours of Old Melbourne - $5.00 per sessionThis program will tour old heritage buildings and streets across Melbourne. A certain level of physical agility is required to be able to walk in laneways and use stairs.

Picnics in the Park - $8.00 per sessionThis program is designed for the participants to prepare a picnic basket and then head off to chosen parks to eat and share their picnic with their colleagues. This will be an all day activity and food allergies/intolerances will be catered for. This may include fresh salads, BBQ’s, wraps and sandwiches.

Social Program B - $2.00 per sessionThe Social Program will join the Friday group at Bowen Street Centre to socialise, join in with varied activities and share morning tea together. It is a great way to extend your friendships.

Social Program F - $2.00 per sessionThe Social Program F is based at Fisher St and the activities for the group are chosen by the participants, and may include art, music, games, playing the WII, going for a walk and gentle exercise. A fun way to further develop your friendships.
