1.3 Introduction

Gulf Readymix was founded in 2005 with one site in the Doha Industrial Area and has since expanded to become one of the fastest growing readymix companies in Qatar. The company now has four sites, each with two batching plants, a fleet of some 70 truck mixers, 13 concrete pumps plus fully equipped labs at each site location.

The readymix plants are situated in the Doha Industrial Area, Ras Laffan , Dukhan and Shamal. The production capacity for each plant is 120m3 per hour with all eight plants being fully automated and containing water chilling units, ice plants and state of the art admixture dispensers. With two plants on each site there is capacity to produce 240m3 per hour should that be required.

Gulf Readymix is part of the MJK Group which was originally founded in 1968 as Mohd. Jassem Al Kuwari & Sons. The Group is a family run business: 100% Qatari owned and managed by the sons of the late founder. The original principles of the business are still strictly adhered to; namely integrity, correct behaviour and value for money. 1.6 Products & Services

Gulf Readymix supply quality assured ready mixed concrete to all segments of the market. We can supply anything from a 3m3 domestic yard to a 4000m3 raft foundation and more.

Whether it is large or small, residential, industrial or commercial our aim is to supply the best quality concrete, fit for purpose. We can supply the complete range of mixes spanning lean mixes up to 120 newton high-strength concrete, shotcrete, self-compacting concrete, high early-strength concrete, waterproof concrete, slip-form concrete, lightweight concrete plus all types of grout.

Our state of the art computerised Alkon batching system and our extensive fleet of truckmixers and pumps are available for delivery to all locations in Doha city, Industrial Area, Al Khor, Al Dukhan ,Shahaniya ,Ras Laffan and Shamal any time of the day or night.

We can supply a variety of different cement types including OPC, SRC, GGBS, PFA and Microsilica. These cement types have become widely accepted as the best way to counteract the aggressive conditions endured by concrete structures in the Gulf region.

To combat the challenges of concreting in very hot weather we have industrial ice machines and water chillers at each of our batching plants.

We have our own supply of aggregates: Arabian Quarries, which gives us control over supply of our raw materials and control over the quality of materials being delivered to our plants.

We are currently in discussion with an admixture supplier with a view to setting up a strategic alliance to give us more control over the quality, cost and performance of our admixtures.

1.7 Quality

Our Quality Assurance programme is an integrated, proactive system designed to maximize the quality of everything we make.

Our Quality Control programme measures that quality using the benchmark of the Qatar National Standard and also International Standards.

Our methods, products and facilities are regularly assessed and monitored by professional independent laboratories. Alongside rigorous testing of raw materials our QA and QC programmes include a regular planned preventative maintenance regime covering our facilities and vehicles. In addition we have accreditation from Ashghal, Kahramaa, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, Ras gas, Qatar foundation, and Qatar Petroleum and other many institutions and authorities.

Our full-time technicians maintain up-to-date records and our laboratories, vehicle fleet and plant facilities are subject to regular State inspections. In all instances we meet QCS, ASTM and BS - EN standards. We are credited also from Qatar standards, NRMCA and ISO certificates 9001 and 14001

At Gulf Readymix we pride ourselves on the quality of the concrete we produce and the reputation we have built in the market. We will never compromise that quality and it is our firm belief that our integrity is our most important asset.

1.8 Control Laboratories

We have fully equipped concrete laboratories on all our readymix plants which enable us to conduct the complete range of periodic materials testing quickly and easily.

Within each laboratory we have crushing machines, drum and pan mixers to enable batching and testing of plastic concrete, curing tanks, ovens and the full range of equipment to carry out both coarse and fine aggregate testing.

All our laboratories are inspected and calibrated by the Ministry of the Environment Central Laboratories Department.

1.9 Health & Safety Policy

1.10 Environmental Policy

Gulf Readymix operations are carried out by trained and competent personnel in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the environment is not adversely affected by our operations.

Environmental protection plays an important part in the culture and behaviour of Gulf Readymix. Our Environmental Management System has been developed to meet and in many cases surpass the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and has been rolled out to all our employees and other stakeholders.

The Environmental Management System is regularly reviewed and constantly monitored as part of our continual improvement process.

1.11 Our Fleet

Ready mixed concrete must be manufactured, inspected, transported and placed within two hours which makes it essential to have a sizeable fleet to ensure rapid delivery and placement.

Gulf Readymix has a fleet of 70 truck mixers with the majority having 9m3 capacity drums. In addition the company has 13 mobile concrete pumps with boom lengths from 34-58 metres. We also have stationary pumps which can be based on site. We have a workshop at our Industrial Area site where regular planned, preventative maintenance is carried out on both truckmixers and concrete pumps.

Our truckmixer drivers and pump operators have all received health and safety training which is regularly updated.
