Page 1: Comparison of Conventions

Comparison of my product to an existing one.

Page 2: Comparison of Conventions

The name of the artist on the front cover is shown in a large, bold, colourful font that is conventional shown on the top of the album cover. However my album cover is unconventional as I've

used serif font for the artist name instead of san serif font.

Page 3: Comparison of Conventions

The name of the album is conventional as its shown in smaller, white, serif font that is similar to the Busted album. My front cover is unconventional as the album name is shown in the main optical area

where as the album name tends to be at the top of the cover in smaller font.

Page 4: Comparison of Conventions

The photo of the album shows the whole artist and what they look like. My front cover is conventional as it shows the artist is shown in jeans and t-shirt similar to the Mcfly cover as the

band is dressed in similar clothes.

Page 5: Comparison of Conventions

The pose of the artist is conventional as it shows them looking down at the audience as they are shown to be

dominant due to the audience looking up to them.

Page 6: Comparison of Conventions

The text used on the back of the front cover is shown in small san serif font at the bottom of the page. My back of the front cover is

unconventional as the text is in white as a black font wouldn’t show up on the dark carpet and the black guitar, other than that the back

of the front cover is conventional.

Page 7: Comparison of Conventions

The image/photo used on the back of the front cover shows something that links to the other pages of the album. My back of the front cover is conventional as the photo shows the instruments used within the songs on the CD and is placed so all of the things are shown in the

shot.

Page 8: Comparison of Conventions

The photo/image used on the back of the back cover links to another page of the album by the design of the page. My

back of the back cover is conventional as the image I’ve used relates back to the other pages of the album by the

use of mise en scene.

Page 9: Comparison of Conventions

The photo/image of the back of the back cover is in the centre of the page as it is coved up by the CD when its in

the case. My back of the back cover is convectional as the image of the artist will be hidden up by the CD once its

inside the case.

Page 10: Comparison of Conventions

The track listening on the back cover are shown in clear, san serif font, in the main optical area of the page. My back cover is conventional as the listings are shown in the middle of the back cover in a dark red san serif font that shows up on the

background.

Page 11: Comparison of Conventions

The barcode of the album is placed in the top right hand corner of the back cover as its in a terminal area of the

page. My album back cover is conventional as the barcode is in the right hand corner were its one of the first things

seen by the root of the eye.

Page 12: Comparison of Conventions

The copyright information of the album is placed in the bottom of the back cover in black san serif font. My back cover is

conventional as the copyright information is sown at the bottom of the page at the end of the root of the eye as the reader is is

less likely to read the information.

Page 13: Comparison of Conventions

The background of the back cover links back to other pages of the CD case by the use of items within the image/photo. My

back cover is conventional as the background links back to the rest of my album photos as the background is the same for the

back of the back cover and the front cover.

Page 14: Comparison of Conventions

The background of the album covers and back of back cover are conventional as the colour scheme is very similar to the pop rock music video of Mcfly 5

Colours In Her Hair.

Page 15: Comparison of Conventions

The image/photo of the album advert covers most of the page as this is the cover of the album. My advert is

conventional as I've used the front cover of the album on the advert.

Page 16: Comparison of Conventions

The text at the bottom of the advert shows all the information to the album, this is shown in large bright font that stands out of the

background colour. My advert is conventional as I’ve used bright colours for the text to make it stand out from the dark red background.

Page 17: Comparison of Conventions

The font used at the bottom of the advert is in bold serif and san serif font depending on the information. My advert is conventional as I’ve used serif font for the songs

include in the album and the debut part where as the date and the website are shown in san serif font as they have a different significance to the advert and is also the same

type of font as the album cover.

Page 18: Comparison of Conventions

The music scenes of the video has the artist singing and/or playing an instrument with in the shot. My music video is

conventional as I’ve used a guitar within the music scenes with the artist singing.

Page 19: Comparison of Conventions

The music and sound used for the video tends to be a pre-recorded track that’s been put on top of the filming and is synced to the shots. My music

video is conventional as I've filmed the shots and but the music on top within the editing of the video that is synced to shot conveniently.

Page 20: Comparison of Conventions

The music video has a male and female character in the video to show the narrative of the video that is showed to be from a higher class to the male

character. My music video is conventional as it shows a narrative that include a male and female character who is shown to be from a higher class as the man

seems to be out of her league.

Page 21: Comparison of Conventions

Within the video there are several shots of the artist showing their expressions and feelings to their surroundings. My video is

conventional as I show multiple shots of the male character/singer to show his feelings from what's happening in the narrative.

Page 22: Comparison of Conventions

The setting of the video is a low cost working class background setting as its shows that the artist is from a working class background. My music video is conventional as the shots I've used are of a working

class background as they are of a busy working building and an outside area.

Page 23: Comparison of Conventions

The main male character of the narrative is the artist who is shown to be from a working class background making him the underdog of the video.

My music video is conventional as I’ve used to artist as the male character in the narrative of the video who is shown to be from a working class

background by the use of wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Page 24: Comparison of Conventions

Within the video there are several shots of the artist shown by the use of high angle shots to show that they are from a working class

background and are looked down upon. My music video is conventional as I’ve use a few high angle shots of the artist when his

on his own in the narrative of the video.

Page 25: Comparison of Conventions

At the end of the music video there is a fade out to establish the end of the video. My music video is

conventional as I've used a fade out at the end of the video.
