RCSLT Newly Qualified Practitioner Goals 2
Completing your NQP Goals
The NQP goals support your learning and development in your first year of practice and are used as evidence of readiness to transfer to full RCSLT membership. Each of these goals will be signed off by a supervisor to show you have displayed competence in that specific area. Once all 24 have been signed off, you are eligible for full ‘Certified’ RCSLT membership.
They have been designed to be flexible and fit into your work setting and day-to-day duties, and have been mapped to the RCSLT Core Capabilities and graduate key capabilities.
This document has been designed to allow you to record evidence towards each of the goals, be that written summaries or other evidence such as certificates or case notes. Please remember to maintain patient confidentiality should you discuss specific cases though. There is no ‘set’ amount of evidence required for a particular goal, just sufficient for your supervisor to be confident in signing it off as complete. You may be able to demonstrate some goals through observation – especially the communication ones – rather than through written notes, but you can discuss this with your supervisor during your meetings with them.
Completion of the NQP Framework generally takes within 12 months to two years from commencement (e.g. at the time where you have formally commenced the competencies as an SLT) to completion. If there are exceptional circumstances, the completion timeframe can be extended at the discretion of the clinical supervisor. There is no minimum time frame for competency completion, although it is important to ensure that the NQP has been given sufficient time to develop their skills and confidence
