Our District team put together one of best attended conference we have had in years. Our International guest ID Teresa Mann was well received. She brought a good prospective of Lions growth in China. It was good to hear that Lions are becoming more prominent in the local communities. There is a potential that they can out pace our membership very soon. The 2 panels; Healthy Living and Social Media are well attended. The social media panel sparked a lot of interest in more exposure for individual clubs through facebook and Instagram. Some Lions in attendance want to get more information and training. Our panelist Bowen Wong was asked to speak at the MD Convention on the subject. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for being part of our success story. There were some very good reports at the cabinet meeting which show that we are making a recovery in membership after starting off at the beginning of our year in a severe deficit situation. I would like to commend all the hard work of our Zone Chairpersons and Cabinet embers. The extension team is working with a group of Lions and has people in the process to start a new club in next few weeks. The finish line is in sight. I see our clubs are working very hard to finish the goals that we have set at the beginning of the year. “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality”. April 2014 District 19A Newsletter - District Governor Peter Cheng

Dear fellow Lions, Leos and Lionesses,

I am extremely pleased with the participation and success of our District

Spring Conference. Our District team put together one of best attended

conference we have had in years. Our International guest ID Teresa

Mann was well received. She brought a good prospective of Lions

growth in China. It was good to hear that Lions are becoming more

prominent in the local communities. There is a potential that they can out

pace our membership very soon.

The 2 panels; Healthy Living and Social Media are well attended. The

social media panel sparked a lot of interest in more exposure for

individual clubs through facebook and Instagram. Some Lions in

attendance want to get more information and training. Our panelist

Bowen Wong was asked to speak at the MD Convention on the subject.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for being part of our success story.

There were some very good reports at the cabinet meeting which show

that we are making a recovery in membership after starting off at the

beginning of our year in a severe deficit situation. I would like to

commend all the hard work of our Zone Chairpersons and Cabinet

embers. The extension team is working with a group of Lions and has

people in the process to start a new club in next few weeks.

The finish line is in sight. I see our clubs are working very hard to finish

the goals that we have set at the beginning of the year. “A dream you

dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality”.

Yours in Service,

District Governor Peter Cheng 3rd Cabinet Meeting on

April 25, 2014.

March 30th Vancouver Galaxy Lions Club had their annual Fundraising dining out at a very special type of Restaurant...their Event is named “Dining in the Dark”!! This is dinner at the “Dark Room” served by the real blind people and totally in Darkness! What a unique, innovative and appropriate way to raise funds for CNIB. They had over 60 participants and raised a total of $2,206.10 to be split between LCIF and CNIB. Good Job Galaxy Lions!!

April The Vancouver Arbutus Lions Club’s Fundraising Charity Ball at the Royal Restaurant, Richmond was a night of karaoke, live band and dancing with close to 200 friends, fellow Lions and members of the Arbutus Lions Club. Money was raised among good food, laughers, sing songs and great Fellowship!! Reportedly, all proceeds raised goes to Alzheimer Society of BC, BC Cancer Foundation, and Lions Foundation. Congratulations to a successful Evening!!

Happy Belated Happy Easter to All and Looking forward to a Fun and Successful 19A District Spring Conference!!
