discover a variety of unrivaled natural wonders. This is the home of one of
the world’s most active volcanoes (Kilauea), the tallest sea mountain in the
world at more than 33,000 feet (Mauna Kea), the most massive mountain
in the world (Mauna Loa) and the southern most point in the United States
(Ka Lae). Showcasing 12 out of 14 of the world’s climate zones, Hawai’i
Island has everything from lush rain forests to volcanic deserts, snow-
capped mountaintops to beautiful black sand beaches.

POOLS The Resort boasts seven swimming facilities - each offering something
unique:
Beach Tree Pool - The Place To Be
Centrally located oceanfront beside the Beach Tree Bar & Grill, this traditional rectangular pool
is surrounded by a wooden pool deck, teak chaises, and cabanas. As the "quiet pool,"
conversations on mobile telephones are discouraged, while relaxation is encouraged.
Sea Shell Pool – Family Fun
With its infinity edge, this lagoon-shaped saline/chlorine pool beside the beach gives the
illusion of blending with the ocean. At this “family” pool, palapa cabanas provide plenty of
shade and a buzz of activity is always present.
Palm Grove Pool – Quiet Tranquility
This tension-edged “Adult-only” pool, is set against a 2,500 square foot deck, made from
Brazilian ipe hardwood and basalt planking. Seating areas are composed of 24 chaise longues
by the pool, seven day beds in semiprivate areas off the deck, and two hammocks. A swim-up
bar and bench seating within the pool, ensures prime locations for sampling the Resort’s
signature “adult shave ice” cocktails.
King’s Pond – Back to Nature
In the northernmost crescent of the Resort sits King’s Pond, a 1.8-million gallon “aquarium"
carved out of the natural lava rock and housing over 3,000 tropical fish, including a spotted
eagle ray. Snorkeling equipment is available, and guests can enjoy scheduled activities such as
ray and fish feedings, snorkeling lessons, touch tank exploration and the popular “fish circus.”
Keiki Pool – For the Young and Young at Heart
The young children's pool, located adjacent to the Seas Shell Pool, with a white-sand bottom, 4
water jets, children’s sized pool chaise lounges and a treasure chest of water toys.
Ocean Pool – Meet the Honu
This rectangular “pool” is carved out of the oceanfront lava rock and features a natural
breakwater. The result is an ocean pool that is protected from the waves and home to sea life
including honu (turtle), this is a great way to experience the ocean with the feel of a pool
Fitness Pool – Lap into Wellness
This Olympic-style pool is located at the Hualālai Sports Club and Spa. This heated pool has four
lap lanes. This pool measures 82 feet (25 metres) in length and ranges from three to seven feet
(one to 2.1 metres) in depth.

Waste Management Initiatives:
• Comprehensive mixed recycling program throughout the Resort, including guest rooms
and residences that recycles glass, aluminum, paper, and plastic.
• Green waste (landscape) is taken to our off-site compost facility and re-introduced into
• the resort.
• Grease waste is shipped to Maui for bio-diesel conversion.
• Select linens are recycled by our seamstress into aprons. Discarded linens and towels are
recycled as rags within the Resort or donated to local charities.
• Select yukata robes are recycled by our seamstress into mini yukata robes for teddy bears.
• Greeter station/gate is a self-sufficient building (solar panels that run on distilled water.)
Water Conservation Initiatives:
• Water from our private wells are pre-treated through reverse osmosis, as drinking water,
it is as pure as bottled water.
• Pre- and post-treatment water is processed at our premier wastewater treatment facility. "Gray"
water is used to irrigate the golf course and surrounding grounds.
• Landscaping team sprays plants with about 500 gallons (per week) of compost tea, a liquid
concentrate of microorganisms that feed and stimulate the soil, which in turn produces nutrients
for the plant. The plants also absorb this "tea" through its leaves, boosting its ability to ward off
diseases and insects.
• Restoration of Waiakauhi Fishpond, a three-acre historic fishpond and waterbird habitat.
• Lake Pūnāwai - a man-made, self-sustaining, low-energy, 3-million gallon, self-cleaning
pond is the "water feature" of the 5th Hole on the exclusive Ke‘olu Golf Course. It is a mini-
ecosystem, a "Living Machine." This project won an EPA Award in 2005
