Graduation Prayer

Before you were even formed, God knew you. While in your Mother's womb, God named you. At your birth, God's breath filled you with life.

Today we celebrate what you have become at this moment in time. And so we pray,

God of our beginnings, We thank you for the gifts of these gradu-ates; their excitement, their awesome wonder and curiosity, their

open speech and encouraging words. Their contributions have blessed and challenged us,

and we have become a richer and more diverse community because of them. As they step forward into the world that awaits, comfort

their fears with the full knowledge of your divine presence. Strengthen their resolve to walk in the footsteps of Jesus as modern-day disciples in a world that needs their spirit. Guide their feet as

they move through life, protecting them from the pitfalls of darkness while they help to lead future generations into the warmth and promise of your light. We

ask this blessing upon each of them, In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

AMEN!

The Ascension of the Lord

This longer ending which has been attached to the gospel of Mark insists on the exaltation of Christ in the glory of the Father and on the signs which accom-pany his universal mission.

Alleluia Go and teach all people my gospel. I am with you always, until the end of the world.

Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation. The man who believes in it and accepts baptism will be saved; the man who refused to believe in it will be condemned. Signs like these will accom-pany those who have professed their faith: they will use my name to expel demons, they will speak entirely new languages, they will be able to handle serpents, they will be able to drink deadly poison without harm, and the sick whom they lay hands on will recover.” Then, after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and took his seat at God’s right hand. The Eleven went forth and preached everywhere. The Lord continued to work with them throughout and confirm the message through the signs which accom-panied them.

Congratulations

Our fondest congratulations to the High School Students who will be receiving the Sacrament of

the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, May 19. The sacrament of confirmation completes the

sacrament of baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life,

confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age. The real confession of Christ

consist in this that the whole man submits himself to Truth, in the judgment of his under-

standing, in the submission of his will and in the consecration of his whole power of love !

Holy Spirit, strengthen the youth with your gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude,

Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord, and serve as a disciple of Christ. Grant that they may grow into the fullness of the stature of Christ. Fill

them with the joy of your presence. Increase in them the fruit of your Spirit. Help them to experi-ence and trust your dwelling within, so that they can count on your guidance today and every day. Show us the way to help one another become bet-

ter disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing your love with our world and with each person we meet.

Come, Holy Spirit! Come
