Presidents Report Hope you are all wishing for an exciting year of racing in 2015. As for our club, we started with a big bang already. At our January meeting, an elderly gentleman decided to join our meeting through the building in his car. Luckily only two people were in the room at the time and nobody got hurt, but a half an hour later, it would have been a different story. What a way to start the season! Anyway, on to the good stuff. Again it was a great banquet and it was really nice to see every club – SCCBC, Ice Racing, Vintage Club and CACC present. Lots of fun and everybody walked home with a door prize. Thanks go to Doris Gildemeister, Dallis Smith our new Vice President, Bryan Nuttall and to Ann for all their help. Not to forget Maddy Wood who helped with the door prize draws. Thank you all. Congratulations to our trophy winners – President’s Award Doris Gildemeister; Non-META member Award Kirsten Pipes; Buzz Beley Award Thomas Liesner; Rick Neyedli Award Karen Clouston. Back to other business. As you have probably heard, the first race in Mission has been cancelled (Easter weekend), but there may be a Test and Tune Practice Day that weekend. Watch for further announcements. This season E-Crew will be conducting a fire training for everybody on Saturday morning of the Driver Training weekend March 21st. So plan to be there for a refresher. Let’s all see if we can bring some new blood out to the track. Just think – everybody brings one person and we all can have double the fun!

Why would any reasonable, level-headed individual strap themselves into one of these rockets

and fly around a concrete racetrack, with 25 other jackasses doing the same thing? You

absolutely have to have a screw loose.

META MERCHANDISE – SHIRTS I have obtained two quotes for shirts, one from our original supplier and one from a new contact. Both could supply the same shirts, (see photos) but the prices are different. Option A: The original supplier has quoted $31 including the logo on the long sleeve shirt for mens’ or womens’ sizes up to size XL (slight surcharge for larger sizes up to 4XL). I am assuming that the short sleeve shirt would either be the same or cheaper. Minimum order is 12 shirts. This company has the logo embroidery already set up. Option B: The new supplier is quoting $27 with logo for either short or long sleeve shirts, again up to XL with a surcharge for larger sizes. There is no minimum order, but the embroidery costs would be more if we ordered less than 12. There is a one time set up charge for the embroidery of $60, but I am proposing that the club absorb this cost as the logo could be used on other articles. As I will not be at the next meeting, please discuss these quotes at the meeting and decide if we should proceed with option A or option B. Note that the prices quoted would be our actual costs. Suggested price to members would be $33 or $29 to cover any unforeseen costs. Once a decision is made, please contact me directly with your shirt orders and we can arrange for payment at that time. Thank you.

The Track Hierarchy – Registrar

- leaps tall buildings in a single bound - is more powerful than a locomotive - is faster than a speeding bullet - walks on water - gives policy to God

Race Chairman - leaps short buildings in a single bound - is more powerful than a switch engine - is just as fast as a speeding bullet - walks on water if the sea is calm - talks to God

Course Marshall - leaps short buildings with a running start and favorable winds - is almost as powerful as a switch engine - walks on water in an indoor swimming pool - talks with God if special request is approved

Pre Grid Marshall - barely clears Quonset hut - loses tug-of-war with locomotive - can fire a speeding bullet - is occasionally addressed by God

Starter - makes high marks on walls when trying to leap tall buildings - is run over by locomotives - can sometimes handle a gun without inflicting self-injury - dog paddles - talks to animals

Assistant Starter - runs into buildings - recognizes locomotives two out of three times - is not issued ammunition - can stay afloat with a life jacket - talks to walls

Vice-President of META - falls over doorstep when trying to enter buildings - says, “Look at the choo-choo!” - wets himself with water pistol - plays in mud puddles - mumbles to himself

Turn Worker - lifts tall buildings and walks under them - kicks locomotives off the tracks - catches speeding bullets in his/her teeth and eats them - freezes water with a single glance - THEY ARE GODS!!!

Atlantic Championship Series Expands for 2015 Season 13 November 2014

Salem, NH – The Atlantic Championship Series, operated by Formula Race Promotions, will expand to a full 14-race/seven-weekend schedule for the 2015 season based on growth and customer demand seen in 2014. Atlantic competitors will visit Road Atlanta to start the season in April, followed by Watkins Glen International in May and VIRginia International Raceway in June. Then it’s on to Mid-Ohio on July 4th weekend, a trip to the new 2.9-mile Pittsburgh International Race Complex in late July, before New Jersey Motorsports Park at the end

of August and circling back to Pittsburgh in mid October, on what is shaping up to be a state-of-the-art road course. Both F2000 and F1600 made inaugural visits to the “short track” at Pittsburgh in 2014, which will now be incorporated into a flowing high-speed road course with significant elevation changes, a natural habitat for the down-force happy Atlantic cars. What started as a three-weekend trial in 2012, and turned into a five-weekend season in 2014 is now going full bore, joining F2000 and F1600 at all their points-paying events for 2015. In 2012, it was David Grant winning the title for Polestar, before moving to F2000. 2014 Champion Daniel Burkett dominated the season for K-Hill Motorsports, and won the majority of races over his closest rivals Jimmy Simpson and Ethan Ringel. Beyond the 2015 14-race schedule, Formula Race Promotions has also entered into a contract to operate a non-points weekend at the end of the year at the new Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia. A date and weekend format will be announced in the first quarter of the new year.

2015 Atlantic Championship Series Schedule: April 10-12 Road Atlanta May 15-17 Watkins Glen June 5-7 Virginia International Raceway July 3-5 Mid-Ohio July 31-Aug 2 Pittsburgh International Race Complex - www.pittrace.com August 28-30 New Jersey Motorsport Park - www.njmp.com October 16-18 Pittsburgh International Race Complex All events are doubleheader race weekends joining F2000 and F1600

http://ridgemotorsportspark.com/ridge-motorsports-park-released-development-plans-today-2015-season/

The Ridge Motorsports Park released development plans today for the 2015 season. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SHELTON, Washington (January 30, 2015) – The Ridge Motorsports Park released development plans today for the 2015 season. “We are thrilled to finally be making progress once again”, said Joe Manke. “We really appreciate everyone’s patience while we have been working hard to get this project back on track. There is so much work to do, and the season is right around the corner. We have identified a few key items we feel we can get done this year that will significantly improve the facility and make The Ridge a better experience for users, and the community”. Construction improvements to the road course started a little over two weeks ago, beginning with the signature Ridge turn complex. A reconfiguration of the turn 13 area was refined by the original road course designer Steve Crawford, to both improve the safety and flow of the circuit, and to mitigate the asphalt degradation issue of the original turn configuration. Additional enhancements include new and more extensive curbing at turn 13 and turn 14, relocation of existing barriers, and additional safety barriers and safety features. There will also be extensive grading and grooming of the surrounding terrain and runoff areas around turn 13, as well as many other areas around the entire road course. There will be fog lines painted on the track using non-slip type paint suitable for motorcycle riders and racers. Design and engineering for a permanent bathroom building structure has been completed, including power, running hot and cold water with sinks, showers and changing rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately once final permits are approved. Clearing is currently underway on an upper area of the property near turn 12. We are making room and developing a location for a large elevated platform from which there will be sweeping panoramic views of the upper road course, as well as parts of the front straight and the lower property. Our objective is to make the facility viewer friendly and exciting for everyone, and to dramatically improve the entire Ridge experience, especially for non-participants. Grading is underway to develop a 1/5th scale, 0.6 mile long and 26 foot wide kart track, that will be a virtual scale replica of the existing road circuit including elevation changes. Future uses include a fleet of rental karts, to open up the facility and engage with more members of the community, sanctioned kart races, and possibly even supermoto type events. Unfortunately, the current revised master development plan does not include a drag strip on the present development site. However, other opportunities are being investigated. “Since July, when we were finally able to get back to work moving this project forward, Joe and I have examined every possible way to physically package and build the drag strip along with the required supporting infrastructure needed to function properly and safely”, said Rusty Gill, co-owner. “The disappointing fact is, that after all the progress delays, we discovered that there simply isn’t enough space on the property to build the drag strip properly and safely on our current site”. “Our friends and supporters in the drag racing community have been incredibly patient since all of this began”, said Joe Manke. “It was a real shock to us to discover that there just isn’t room to build the drag strip on our current site. But, Rusty and I want to be very clear however that this doesn’t mean we aren’t totally committed to doing our very best to build a place for our community drag racers to enjoy their sport. We are actively exploring other opportunities and locations to develop a venue for drag racing. If space constraints prevent building the drag strip on our current property, then we are going to look into other ways to get it done”.
