Well the weather has been glorious, which has meant the girls have been able to

take some of their learning outside. Form IV certainly enjoyed our circle time games

outside, Form II made some great shadow shapes out on the courts and Form I

worked collaboratively to create a skeleton entirely out of natural materials. All the

girls are loving our new Charanga music programme which has been a real success

and the older girls are really enjoying learning the keyboard.

I have also been impressed this week by how well all our new pupils have settled in. They already seem

confident with routines and are trying hard in lessons and beginning to form friendships. Well done to

you all for such a positive attitude.

I enjoyed visiting Early Years this week where Reception were learning about the Hungarian artist

Friendensreich Hundertwasser and Nursery were building Volcanoes.

Our assembly this week was all about learning and we discovered that in order to succeed we need to:

• first start the task

• not be afraid to make mistakes

• think about and learn from our mistakes

• practise a lot – but make sure it is purposeful practice

• don’t give up

• have patience

• keep trying and practising

We demonstrated this with the golf ball challenge. To see who was able to build a tower of 3 golf balls

as quickly as possible. We had some good attempts in the different rooms, however we did discover

that anti-bac does make the balls very slippery. Many of the girls made a valiant attempt and managed

2 balls but we are yet to find someone who managed 3. Yes, I have also tried it and after a bit of practise

I did manage 3!

Drop off and pick up is mostly working well, but please can I ask parents and guardians who are

collecting from the LRC entrance at the end of the day to not congregate at the top of the alley, but wait

along the left hand side fence as this means we do not block the pathway and also ensures that staff can

easily see which parents are there. Thank you.

Well done to Catherine who attended the 1st Virtual Suffolk Music

Festival in August, and won 1st prize in the organ beginners class. A

wonderful achievement.

Congratulations to the following girls who all completed the Summer

Reading Challenge. Well done girls.

Our story focus for this week was

‘Peace at Last.’ The children all

used props to retell the main

events in the story. They also

joined in the repeated refrain “Oh

no, I can’t stand this.”

This week in Reception,

the girls have been

practising writing their

names and short sentences

in the leading cursive style,

as well as sounding out

and forming some short

words.

Times Tables Badges September 2020

Well done to the following girls for gaining their times tables badges this week:

Form IV

Davina, Ira, Ella, Emily, Lucy, Mila, Anya, Alice

Form V

Miriam, Nabila, Saamiya, Gabriella, Grace, Srikala, Holly, Shiveya, Elise MA, Ayla, Ayana, Aaliyah, Celine,

Isabella, Catherine, Daisy, Amelie

Form VI

Anvi, Zahra, Khiana, Rosie, Orlaith, Georgina, Sahar, Hannah, Zara, Delara, Annah, Emily, Sienna, Olivia,

Sandhya, Shivaani, Anya, Matylda, Elyanna

Form I have been learning about the components of the human skeleton. They had a wonderful time

working collaboratively to make a 'skeleton' outside.

They also worked outside on some practical maths. They used their knowledge of the number system

to estimate amounts.

Here is some of the artwork from Form II. Their interpretation of

‘Starry Night’ by Van Gogh. They mixed shades of blue and used

different techniques to make the sky look alive. They then found out

about silhouettes and used black paper to create silhouettes in the

foreground.

Form III enjoyed their

music lessons this

week. They have

been finding the beat

of a piece of music

and accompanying it

using a

glockenspiel. After a

short practice, it

sounded fantastic.

Form IV have made very informative Google slideshows in Science, all about how we should care for our

teeth.

In Computing, Forms V & VI have been learning about their digital footprint and how we can ensure that

it is positive. We had lots of interesting discussion and then enjoyed playing Mindful Mountain

(Interland) game online to re-enforce our learning.
